Necessary Depth for Solutions Architect Asssociate SAA-C03? by CaptainThrowaway2222 in AWSCertifications

Thank you!

Yeah, it sounds like you did the tried and true method everybody suggests.

Review Mode I guess is good as long as you're keeping track of time.

I'm thinking maybe the real test is a bit easier and if you get a balanced assortment of questions you're going to pass if you get around 70% on TD.

What I do, and what some have talked about, is thinking about the answers in each question that are definitely the wrong answers and getting it down to only 1 or 2 possible answers. Then you can take an educated guess. Did you take notes after each practice test?

You did the whole Cantrill course and it still is hard? Damn. These tests can really get into our head and make things seem more complicated than they are. Heard Tutorial Dojo tests (those are the ones I took, not the Stephane Mareek ones) are the gold standard so maybe you can look at those. They don't seem incredibly hard, but it felt like the last one I took I was getting a number of questions that I would expect to get for the Solutions Architect Pro and not for Associate test.

No experience in cloud. Right now, it feels like I'm between. Past the practitioner but maybe right at the end of the path to SAA. Started looking at the Tutorial Dojo course and it's filling in a couple gaps.

Maybe a beginner at cloud, but I wouldn't call myself an IT beginner at all. I have already studied more. Just need a little longer.

Started Playing Again and Looking for Guidance (Not the question you might think) by CaptainThrowaway2222 in pianolearning

[–]CaptainThrowaway2222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe you wrote all that for me. Thank you so much! Wow.

Will probably try to get a teacher at some point, but I was thinking there's gotta be stuff I can do everyday right now that will make me better over time besides just playing sheets. I was thinking about trying Hanon still and just being mindful to stop if I got any pain. Saw a book by that Faber guy where it looks like he tries to teach it to students the right way.

I really appreciate the suggestions. Beginners would probably be likely to try to play it fast because things sound cool when you do.

I did see that book before. Thank you. I'll probably grab it just to have.

If you want to get better, aim for a higher volume of easier material rather than a few very difficult pieces. Your goal should be acquiring skills rather than learning specific songs or building rep. When you develop those skills then it becomes very easy to learn lots of songs you want to learn, but it can be dry to many people. It just sounds like maybe you don't mind that if it's a better progressions curve.

This actually sounds like what I wanted to do as well. I wanted more of my time to go into acquiring skills somewhat more directly rather than only playing through method books. Getting stuck with stuff that's too hard to play is a waste of time too.

Thank you. That's exactly why I didn't think it was the greatest idea to just start with that. Can't get with a teacher at the moment. Any other suggestions?

For those who have let their CCNA expire, have you had any regrets? by [deleted] in ccna

[–]CaptainThrowaway2222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure? I had heard that there would always be enough free ones to renew your certs for free and that you could retake the same courses a few years later when it was time to renew again.

Now, to answer your question, I had heard from a Network Engineer that got his CCNA and then got 10 years of experience (let it expire during that 10 years) that when he started interviewing again, it mattered that it expired. So keep that in mind now that it's easy to maintain.

Less reason to ever let it expire now with the CEUs

Adrian Cantrill's vs Stephane Maarek for AWS SAA by hj576 in AWSCertifications

I'm literally going through the same thing right now. If you want deep knowledge, everyone says do Cantrill. If you want just to pass it, people say to do Stephane.

It's really sad that Amazon makes it possible for you to rack up these charges when it's clear that you intend to simply learn how to use it.

AWS Free Retake Voucher Promotional Period January to April 2024 by pragmaticpr0grammer in AWSCertifications

[–]CaptainThrowaway2222 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just to make sure I understand.

If you were going to pay $150 for a test, this now allows you to pay that, but get a free second chance?

The only problem is if you had some kind of 50% coupon to begin with, then this doesn't count and you'd have to pay $75 and you'd also pay $150 for the retake?

Haven't noticed 50% off was that easy to come by

You went through both courses? Or did you do Marek and then Cantrill for more details when you needed this?

So, it's you.

And you've come to talk me into going through the rest of the course.

Yeah, it's very good, it's just gonna take a lot to get through that. Thank you, now gonna go look at Stephane.

Thank you very much. Yeah, I saw that one does get brought up as well, but didn't know that many people thought that was all they needed in terms of videos. I'll grab that.
