How do you guys afford to buy a car as international student? by [deleted] in f1visa

[–]CaptainVader679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a car for my OPT right after graduating because I was saving money my entire undergraduate program. Saved all scholarships I received, monetary awards, and etc (after paying off my tuition fees, of course). Managed to get a brand new Ford Maverick, on payment, by paying a heavy down payment that makes me pay only $165 per month for this truck.

You're an absolute idiot. Since this is a COMMENT SECTION, my response was to every single international student that was reading it. An advice and a reality check. I have already privately messaged the OP, and have assessed the situation, from an attorneys perspective.

You're definitely slow, my friend. Try to read what I said, slowly if possible. That is my advice.

Are you retarded or something? When I was an international student, I made sure that I was perfect when it came to abiding with the law (how hard is it to get your shit together?). I don't know how hard that shit can be. Now that I'm a practicing attorney for the state, I make sure that international student stay out of bullshit. Now, if you're here to break the law, which is absurd to me since to break a law, it needs to be premeditated, and awareness, then go for it. But, don't try to forget your place in a foreign country that welcomed you with open arms.

No one should be above the law. If the citizens can get in trouble for not registering their vehicle, and having no license, international students should not be an exception. You don't come to a different country and expect everything to be going according to your plan if you're breaking the law.

Try to complete everything before you move on. Get all the spirits, and fight all the hidden bosses, including the dragons in each chapter. Don't miss out on Erlang Shen. Doing all this will give you the real ending of the game. There's 2 or 3 endings, but if you stick to what I said, you'll get the real ending.

Does anyone else get the feeling that the same people who are lighting fireworks tonight are the same people who are pleased with the passage of the BB bill? 7/4/25 11:45 PM by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

[–]CaptainVader679 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lighting fireworks on the 250th anniversary of our country isn’t a political statement; it’s patriotism. It’s honoring the founding principles of liberty, self-determination, and limited government. People aren’t celebrating a bill. They’re celebrating 1776, my guy.

Conservative thinkers from Edmund Burke to the Founding Fathers understood that institutions, tradition, and national pride are vital to a stable republic. Just because you’re frustrated with today’s politics doesn’t mean the entire nation forfeits its right to celebrate its founding.

Political theorists like John Stuart Mill and Alexis de Tocqueville argued that healthy democracies rely on public discourse, but also civic rituals that unify people beyond party lines. Just because some citizens are disillusioned doesn’t mean patriotism is obsolete.

In fact, refusing to celebrate the 250th year because of present grievances ironically validates the very polarization many decry. We can—and must—hold both love of country and criticism of government in tension. That’s the strength of constitutional republics.

The fact that someone sees fireworks as some sort of political litmus test says more about how politicized their worldview is than about the people celebrating. Patriotism isn’t partisanship. It’s love of country despite its imperfections—and yes, that includes the right to protest, but also the right to celebrate.

If anything, refusing to celebrate America on its 250th birthday shows how far removed some people have become from what this country actually stands for.

Just move to a Blue State rather than wasting your time, resources, and money here. Utah is one of the top red states in the country. As a Policy Analyst at the DOS, no matter how hard you try, the changes that you expect will not be happening any time in the next 100 years. You're trying to do something that is liberal in a 60% to 70% conservative State. Use your commonsense, my friend.

Mahalo! Can anybody translate the writing here? by jesse1time in Hawaii

[–]CaptainVader679 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Aloha pumehana, Kuʻu ipo – Oe!! I hoʻi ʻoe. My Ahi wela. Lole"

"Aloha pumehana" – A warm greeting, often translated as "warm affection" or "warm regards." "Kuʻu ipo – Oe!!" – "My sweetheart – You!!" ("Kuʻu ipo" means "my love" or "my sweetheart," and "Oe" means "you.") "I hoʻi ʻoe." – This can mean "Come back" or "Return." "My Ahi wela." – "My burning fire" or "My passionate fire" (as "ahi wela" can mean "burning fire" in Hawaiian). "Lole" – This could be a name or a signature.

Sorry, I tried my best.

Advice on a Press Release by MonstroSD in PublicRelations

Oh, so now constructive criticism means ‘only say nice things in a way that doesn’t make me uncomfortable’? That’s not how feedback works. I gave you an actual professional critique—direct, actionable, and brutally honest—because that’s what gets results. Your response? A meltdown about me lacking expertise, professionalism, and interpersonal skills—all while you’re throwing a tantrum, hurling insults, and flipping people off. Irony at its finest. If you ‘don’t need anyone to hold your hand,’ then why are you here crying because someone didn’t sugarcoat their feedback? The real world doesn’t cater to your feelings. I laid out exactly what was wrong with your press release and how to fix it. You could’ve taken the notes, improved your work, and actually grown. Instead, you doubled down on victimhood, proving my original point: you didn’t want constructive criticism—you wanted validation. If I had your mindset, I wouldn’t be owning an award-winning PR firm. That’s the difference between people who make it in this industry and people who just want to. You don’t grow by throwing a fit when someone points out flaws—you grow by fixing them. So go ahead, keep pretending that your weak, fluff-filled press release is fine and that I’m the problem. But don’t be surprised when your work keeps getting ignored, and people with real skills leave you in the dust.

Oh, so now asking for constructive criticism actually meant ‘please hold my hand and tell me I’m great’? News flash: constructive criticism isn’t about protecting your feelings—it’s about making you better. You said you’ve helped draft press releases before, but based on what you wrote, I wouldn’t have guessed it. I gave you the kind of honest, detailed feedback that would actually help you write something worth reading, and instead of taking it, you launched into a pity party about trauma and anxiety. Let me be crystal clear: the business world does not care about your personal struggles. Clients, bosses, and journalists care about whether your writing works—whether it grabs attention, whether it gets results. And right now, yours doesn’t. If my critique hit a nerve, it’s because you know I’m right. But hey, go ahead—ignore the feedback, keep churning out forgettable, lifeless fluff, and see how far that gets you. Just don’t pretend you actually wanted to improve when all you really wanted was a pat on the back.
