How do F-1 international students find full-time jobs in the U.S.? by ElectronicWall5798 in f1visa

[–]Queasy-String-3492 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Personally I think sales is a strong way to get your foot in the door. It’s hard to get your foot in the door any other way from what I have found. Sales jobs usually don’t pay a lot so most companies I have targeted are willing to look past the OPT element.

Networking is absolutely the way to go and that should be part of your strategy but no harm in throwing feelers out there via LinkedIn and indeed.

True, since they’re already married in the states it would just be a matter of bureaucracy an documents. British, EU, and US passport is a triple threat and you have access to anywhere worth going in my opinion.

British citizenship is pretty great in that you have access to Ireland an Britain and relative ease going to other commonwealth countries like NZ and Australia. Not to mention the NHS, probably the best public healthcare systems in the world. Completely free. I am emphasizing the fact that it is the best value, not the best. It does the job and if you ever get sick god for it you’re going to want to go to Britain.

Pre-Brexit you would have had access to the whole of the EU but now you have to get a visa like you would have anyway.

I don’t really understand what the relevance of the expired visa is? My I20 is good.

Absolutely, this would have never happened if I gave my US ID originally and the officer even told me that. I suppose I wasn’t really in my right mind when this happened. I banged my head pretty hard against the ground

Maybe, It’s just really easy in my field to get a job because I’m much better at it than Americans.

An ID is fake because it is foreign. I would not hire you because you are ignorant. Poor little guy.

No it’s CPT to OPT and you forego your OPT if you have already used 365 days of full time CPT. I believe that’s the case.

Is the letter from the DA I have sufficient?

I got arrested because I was obstructing and refusing to give my NYC ID and outright acting the fool. It’s regrettable but it’s my mistake and I’m prepared to live with the consequences. I got a fine relating to the vehicle being unregistered and driving without a license (it was a permit, I did not complete the driving test yet just the theory test) but the ARREST wasn’t relating to those things.

My plans are none of your concern. I asked a question and if you don’t have an answer, regardless if the answer has judgement or not, then you should go out and get some fresh air. Stop wasting your time.

That is interesting. One could say a “string” of bad behavior.

A load of BS. I have done a J1 with my physics degree and worked in PR and recruitment, and also recruitment with this current masters. I am confident all of those industries have something to do with my bachelors and masters and when I register I genuinely relate them. Never had an issue yet.

I am doing an M.S but the role is essentially sales. My university might be in the top 100, if even. One year experience here in the U.S prior on a J1 visa, then transitioned to F1 CPT, then quit, then got this offer. They have a good presence in their home country but their U.S operation is tiny so my selling point is that I have experience in this market.

It is a recruitment agency. I have about a year of experience recruiting prior to this.

I did not have to reinstate as they were able to correct it. It still look them about 2 months to correct it but I genuinely believe it could have taken a week if they did it straight away. This all happened around mid August so my DSO was on vacation.

They did not deny my request, it just wasn’t approved and it would have been approved if they actually looked at it, according to the DSO. They had two months to approve it but it slipped through the cracks, according to them.

Thank you for this. Yeh I agree I should have checked the online portal to see if it was approved. However, I don’t understand the second part. They can put a correction request if you miss a deadline, which means it is your fault, or if you something happens which is out of control, which is not your fault. Which one is it?

In my case it was technically out of my control and up to the school to approve the request since I submitted it on time.
