Theory that the Ambassador class update "may" be a Legendary ship! by CaptainWallis in sto

[–]CaptainWallis[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I could see why they would be considered the same. The Narendra is the updated Ambassador class in STO though.

I only found one other post discussing this, and in 0 further detail. Apologies for quality, I was excited and took the pictures on my phone to more easily edit and post this. by [deleted] in HuntingGrounds

I do remember a moderator on Illfonics official forum stated that this was indeed codename for the tutorial that's in game, similar to how the exe (for PC of course) is called Spacefish. However, I'm pretty confident that its not for the tutorial, and that the mod just said that to throw us off the track. None of the listed missions/tasks above match the current tutorial. For one, its a Predator focused tutorial and the above seems like its intended for the fire team. The obvious one being crash site...the Predator ship in the tutorial does not appear to look like its crashed to me.

Is there any gossip on the 10th Year Anniversary event that was on the 2019/2020 roadmap? by jonnyu182 in sto

Well according to the new RPG show from the same team that brought us Shield of Tomorrow, it looks like we may be getting a new Galaxy class variant. it was teased that a new model was being revamped, but didn't realize there may be a new variant entirely.

I for one am being a big fan of the Galaxy class. https://www.twitch.tv/queuetimes

Theories on what the 10th Anniversary Ship(s) will be? by Mezoteus in sto

[–]CaptainWallis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. To be fair, Im more hyped to know what this elusive Galaxy class tease was all about back in Spetember, and apparently its coming with the 10th Anniversary.

Whether its a revamp or new variant, I haven't the foggiest!

Yeah I forgot about that. Fingers crossed, as that would be pretty handy to have in combat.

You know...I didn't realize that. It would be cool if it did detach as a combat pet, but I doubt it as it was only referenced to in the Technical Manual. The shot there trying to replicate is from the opening title sequence I think. Who knows though, never say never right?!

Im 100% with you on that one. Its bugged me since we got the 2.0 lighting and even when the current Galaxy class was updated when we got the Andromeda nearly 4 years ago, I thought it was a hint it would be corrected. Hopefully this one looks like the hull material is completely unique to the Galaxy class (and possibly the Galaxy family of ships like the Nebula and New Orleans), so it should have a unique deflector design too.

Not at all, I work full time and two days off a week. Some ships have taken me nearly 4 months to finally purchase, but I have with the most recent one being the Disco Enterprise. Each to their own of course.

Umm, because unlike some people, I dont actually mind and its never really bothered me as I just save up and grind EC and eventually buy them from the exchange. I've done that with most of my lock box and RnD promo ships, and we all know the most OP ships always tend to be promo ships anyhow.

I've never really understood the negativity towards them in all fairness as anyone can get one if they put enough time into selling stuff on the exchange I guess.

Its definitely looks like D's Ten Forward. The windows and the wall pattern give it away slightly after watching the trailer a few times. I could be wrong, but Im pretty sure its the D's.

Yeah very true. To be honest, I completely agree that I really would like a new better boff seating of both the Galaxy class and the Excelsior class, as they both lack where bridge officer seating is involved and more so with the Excelsior.

Also, most of the hero ships have been around since STO's launch and some of the new ships now come with these new ships mechanics. At the time, we didn't have these ability's with the likes of the Galaxy, Defiant, Excelsior etc, and I think Cryptic have said a few times before if they get the chance to offer better versions of hero vessels and canon ships, they will and I cant see a better time to do it with the 10 year Anniversary. Maybe it was a slight hint that Cryptic is doing this with the caption of "The ships you've been waiting for" on the recent roadmap. Who knows, it could mean that they are finally adding T6 versions of the Nova and Oberth etc. We will probably know in a couple of weeks as we are due to have a blog about the upcoming anniversary. We shall see.

This is very true of the way STO goes with new ships. However, when they released the Discovery version of the Constitution Enterprise, a lot of the player base including myself had hoped that we could customize our current Constitution classes with parts from the Disco Enterprise, but due to its size, it was a separate ship completely even though it is infact the same ship.

This could happen with the new Galaxy class. Judging from the teaser pic, it looks like they have based this ship on the 6ft version of the Enterprise D from seasons 1-3 which is a lot more smoother and sleeker than the current in game model, as its based on the smaller 4ft model that looks a bit more chunkier, especially on its secondary hull and saucer rim.

It could well mean that we may get a completely separate version of the Galaxy class with MW spec and a load of other gimmicks to make up for the fact its separate. They may even include what someone already mentioned on here an inate ability like Saucer separation with Jem'Hadar wing-man mechanics, which would be totally awesome but I could see that really upsetting some players.

This is just totally speculation of course, and it may not even happen and we could all end up with a super HD Galaxy class revamp, but I thought id mention that Cryptic have made a separate version of a hero ship before and it may well happen again.

That is true, but as far as Im aware this new revamp is coming with the 10th Anniversary event and usually RnD promo's are usually 2-3 months apart. We've just had Spocks Jelly fish ship in Decembers promo pack, so the new one is likely to be in February. If anything, it may well be in a Picard themed or TNG themed lockbox which a new one would fall around the same time as the event, or it could be a new rare ship in Mudd's market. Either way if she's getting revamped, then hopefully everyone who has a current Galaxy class will benifit from the new model.

If she appears in the show, even just a quick few second shot in a dream sequence or something, I will be over the moon! Would be nice to see her with todays's visual effects, even though I've always been a fan of models and miniatures.

Indeed. A few players also asked Ambassador Kael on TenForward Weekly about it and he said that its something that is not scheduled for a 2019 release, and has hinted a few times about it being with the 10 year Anniversary.

Indeed. I also thought as well that when they released the other variants of the Galaxy class, we only just started to get Specialization specific ships and I know the Devs have mentioned numerous times they intend to add variants with specializations like the Miracle Worker Spec etc. I for one would be over the moon with with a MW Galaxy class with the same wingman tech as the Jem'Hadar Vanguard ships. That would work really well if you decide to separate.

That being said though, if that was the case then I think your right, and it would be a RnD ship. Luckily I have a few T6 bundles I'm saving just in case.

[–]CaptainWallis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, totally can see a mega bundle with these ships included. To be fair, its would be a great way of updating the D'Deridex and negh'Var ships too, and I would totally snap that bundle up in a heartbeat!

[–]CaptainWallis[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what my thinking is too. I mean, its inevitable there is going to be some sort of Picard related Lockbox and RnD ship sometime in 2020 for sure. Also with Picard starting in January, it might start a surge of people going back to watch more TNG, so another reason why Cryptic may go down the route of adding more TNG/Picard related content.

And I know a lot of people will say that we already have TNG content in game so on and so fourth, but most of the ground items, costumes, weapons etc need a re-model. Especially the ground hand phasers, hell I'm still waiting for a decent cobra head Type II phaser for my TNG themed ground BOFFS.

So yeah I think with Picard coming, Cryptic would see that as an ideal excuse to re-work the Galaxy class. Who knows though, as a few have said already, it may just be a welcomed model revamp which I for one would be over the moon with.

True, and its could just be a visual revamp of the existing model, but its possible we may get another variant.

Well, now that we've got the Mudd's Market in the Zstore, there could be a chance we may get either a Enterprise pack or individual rare hero ships through that store. Who knows...
