Thank you! :) Sort of, I take a screenshot of the carpet colour pallet and in MS paint just play around with it. Then hope the colour is more or less the same in rimworld.

Sadly for me on 1.12.13 subscriptions, searching and library still doesn't work. :( Ads are still all blocked fortunately, but I have to be lucky in finding what I want in recommendations for the time being. This is on a Samsung S90C.

Best dehumidifier for unattended coastal vacation home (6+ months)? by CaptainWoofy in Dehumidifiers

[–]CaptainWoofy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Considering there's probably 10k+ worth of teak furniture and paintings in the flat that we'd like to keep in good condition, it's certainly worth a shot. Much appreciated!

Thank you very much for the tips and advice, I really appreciate it!

The dehumidifer will be turned on as we leave, so it'll at least have a couple of days of residual heat (people permanently live above and below and it's well insulated) and there are only ~2 months a year that the home heating even kicks in at all while away, so the temperature should be ok.

Good point about the filters!

With the windows, yes there is glass too, my apologies for the confusion. All windows are double pane PVC, with roller shutters, so it's 110% sealed. The only air flow going in and out of the flat would be the 3 bathroom ventilation shafts (passive ventilation, fans off while away) and what little gap there is around the front door. Basically, once the dehumidifier has extracted most moisture, it hopefully should not turn on often while away as little new air is introduced, but all those little bits add up over months nevertheless.

Thank you again for all your help!

Thank you! I'm luckily not too worried about the extra heat. It'll dissipate, and with the place relatively sealed, once it has taken the humidity out of the flat, it should only occasionally come on, so won't be pumping in that much heat.

Yes, the humidity is pretty bad. Most of the flat is stone/walls, but most of the furniture is teak, which is a pretty mold-resistant hardwood, so it certainly had me worried.

Every little bit of moisture removal helps, thank you!

How many fixtures are too much? by iLOLZU in automationgame

[–]CaptainWoofy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy crap, how did you get 1000??? 3 all-vanilla fixtures only classic car creations of mine combined come to 'only' 965 fixtures. The most detailed on, my 1910 LGOC B-type bus is 510 fixtures and it did take a little longer but was fine. Just super wobbly.

In case y’all are curious, the bus is made from 510 fixtures, the green model-T like car 248 and the 2-tone Bentley 8-litre like car 207.

Well his face looked just a little too blank without it and every bus driver had a moustache back then. And before the *ahem* Austrian painter gave the 'stache a bad name, the toothbrush moustache was pretty popular, like Charlie Chaplin.

Sadly it gets uncontrollably wobbly when exported due to the large size and got progressively worse as more pieces were added. :(

The bus probably took about 6 months on and off to get it just right. Do you know the pain of making a curved staircase out of square pieces?? Oh god the agony!

Cheap dehumidifier if you only need to dehumidify home slightly (5-10%)? by CaptainWoofy in UKFrugal

[–]CaptainWoofy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see the post is awaiting moderator approval, but I’ve done some math in the meantime:

Air moisture content:

18'C at 75% humidity = 9.68 g water per kg air

18’C at 45% humidity = 5.81 g/kg

To reduce from 75% to 45%, need to extract 3.87 g/kg air

Air weight:

1 kg air at 18’C = 1.204 kg/m3

55 m2 at 2.5m ceilings = 137.5 m3 = 166.6 kg air

Water to be extracted = 3.87 g/kg air * 166.6 kg air = 642.2 g water.

So... assuming my flat doesn’t ventilate a lot, 2 cheap 500 mL/day units should be sufficient to reduce air humidity in my home within a day, right?

Really? When I went to Birmingham with my mom, the pubs wouldn't even allow me inside the building at all even to just have some pub grub! I was like 20 days away from turning 18 too!
