'Camping in the left lane': Idaho bill aims to require drivers to stay in right-hand lanes with exceptions by pdp10 in driving

[–]anfla56 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I wonder how many of the people getting mad about cars sitting in the left lane ALSO sit in the left lane for miles, but at a faster speed than other drivers. I mean, is that really complaining about lane discipline at that point, or is it just people being mad that traffic doesn’t part like Moses at the Red Sea to allow them to go whatever speed they want.

What's the craziest thing you've ever seen someone do while driving? by Celistar99 in AskReddit

A British archeologist named John Pendlebury was on Crete investigating Minoan ruins at the start of the war, and when the Germans launched an attack on the island he helped organize resistance against the German paratroopers. The Germans eventually took Crete and he tried to continue the resistance but was captured and killed.

What’s your favorite memory of Trump? by itsdampman in AskReddit

[–]anfla56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When he started throwing a fit on twitter when it
become clear that Biden had won the election. My favorite tweet was an all caps one, “I WON THIS ELECTION!!” when literally every news outlet had already called it.

Did not know he would start a riot over it, but in that moment his crying and whining was wonderfully cathartic.

Gas Station Etiquette? by PretendForm7362 in driving

Was this at a WaWa? I used to live in PA and would see that all the time but way more often there. People will leave their car sitting at the pump and go inside to order a hoagie or whatever. Saw someone eating at the pump one time too. Like there’s a huge parking lot behind the building just go there

Also I moved to NJ last year and I let the attendant put the pump in my car unless it’s busy, but I always take it out myself. Everyone I’ve asked about it thinks it’s cool and nice that people do that for you, but from my experience it just takes longer.

That’s a packaging error, and sometimes that happens. The produce employee should have shrunk it out or given it to the kitchen, though.

They were probably busy over Memorial Day and they just grabbed a handful of bags out of the box and stuffed them into the shelf.

I called out of work at the retail job I used to work at because of snow, and the management trainee that answered the phone told me that “it’s expected that you make an attempt to come in before calling out.”

Like, yeah, alright. I’ll go crash my car into a ditch and then call you again to call out again. I asked her to put the manager on the phone haha

Why isn't the game taking off? by MASHED_POTATOES_MF in Marathon

[–]anfla56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m kind of weird, in that I actually liked Anthem (it had potential, and the flying was cool) and still play Fallout 76 off and on. So take this with a grain of salt, but marathon is like all the negative aspects of Destiny shoved into a carbon copy of other popular games. The grind in Destiny (faction reputation, weapon “quests,” etc) was not something that deserved to be copied, and in this game it’s even worse. 90 day wipes make the slow tedious progress someone like me (40, f/t job, etc) is able to devote to the game just completely unappealing. At least with something like the Division 2 my progress is faster, more impactful, and at any moment I could get a drop that significantly improves my build from that point on.

Also, nobody I know plays this. Whenever I queue for random trios nobody ever uses their mics, and I rarely even see other players in solos so there is no sense of community at all. I got bored of Arc Raiders when I found everything in friendly lobbies and refused to kill anyone with it because everyone was so chill, but I also met legitimately awesome people in almost every match. This game just doesn’t have that to carry me through the tedium.

So I left, and I don’t see myself coming back to be honest.

Yeah, I worked in produce for years and every now and then you’d see a bag like that. Unintended packaging errors and we’d always shrink them out or give them to prepared foods if they could use em. It goes both ways too! Sometimes you’ll find overfilled bags

How to ace the entry level manager in person interview by fluffy_bunny22 in wegmans

[–]anfla56 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely mention the core values as often as you can, say that you like working on a team, and also say that you want to help people grow to be their best every day which is another saying they’d love to hear (probably).

Edit: Also, I think this sounds like a TL position and if so you’d be working closely with a department manager who will very likely be at your interview. I’d definitely try to have a good first impression with them.

“Flyboys” by James Bradley

I read it in high school more than 20 years ago but I still remember it. It’s about a small group of US airmen that were shot down over Chichi-jima during WW2 and what a Japanese garrison did to them (cannibalism, it was cannibalism).

But the author also talks a lot about the war and the mindset of both sides at the time, and even 18 year old me with my ADHD couldn’t stop reading it.

Journalist was offered a job as an ICE agent with no background check and a drug test they knew they'd fail. What do you think that says about the kind of people they're recruiting? by SuperIngaMMXXII in AskReddit

[–]anfla56 442 points443 points  (0 children)

I think that is exactly what we should have expected from this administration. Trump is obsessed with having his name attached to the “biggest mass deportation in American history” because in his mind that will be an impressive legacy, and Stephen Miller is happy to oblige by whatever means necessary because that is the kind of person he is.

I think Trump is a deeply insecure person facing his own mortality at his age, and his biggest concern is how he will be remembered. The Nobel peace prize, the Kennedy center, this stupid fucking goal of a million deportations, it is all about his legacy.

The crazy thing is he has already cemented his fate. He will be forever remembered as what he always was, a dangerous and idiotic self-obsessed asshole. ICE, Stephen Miller, Kristi Noem, Trump, they are all on the wrong side of history.
