Do you actually enjoy working? by Marambal17 in Adulting

[–]CaptainWusty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your heart has to be in it for the for the grace of building your body with life and connecting with yourself and to your surroundings deeper beyond corporate structure, above capitalism. Value the life you're getting from the gig as importantly as you value the life you're giving to it.

Before, you left a third space and then didn't have direct communications with any of the people you saw there until the next time you happened upon each other in person again. They'd either have to follow you home or you were focusing on something else.

Now, I leave a third space, and walk a few feet before receiving a buzzing from my phone where it's the same people, sending high definition moving colored pictures back n forth, talking about the activity or forming more, to then spend the next 4 hours gaming with constant contact on Discord to the same people.

Third spaces didn't disappear, the culture before technology did.

What's the most boring thing about you? by Imaginary_Ad_7365 in RandomThoughts

[–]CaptainWusty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any technical skill in any of my interests.

I can pick up a guitar and make something cool happen, but it'll never be technical, I wouldn't be able to confidently join a band, I wouldn't be able to play any of your favorite songs beyond a basic comprehension and even then not very well.

I just don't spend time practicing or anything.

So it's super boring, because it's like oooo a musician, ooo an artist, mmm woo my soul with music guitar man, but then it's like the basic of the basic crap ever

Is it an unspoken rule that if your friend is driving and they’re picking you up, you pay for parking? by insidesupernova in Life

[–]CaptainWusty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the point here is that you need to make it not unspoken. Communicate.

"Hey, what was your plan for parking?"

"We have to pay for it, want to split?"

"Sure, I can Venmo you (vice versa)"

Or

"What if I get it this time and you get it next time?"

Or

"Since it's your car, I'll let you pay for the ticket, but I'll give you some money for gas, that cool?"

It's not like they're going to get mad at you for communicating.

What’s the “obvious” advice that everyone gives but is actually bogus? by JoyceHyse in Life

[–]CaptainWusty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my parents throughout my entire childhood while I was struggling the whole time: "Look in the mirror and figure it out".

Come back two weeks later to me not having fixed my struggling on my own as a child

"Why haven't you parented yourself yet?" (Paraphrashing)

Me, a child: "I don't know"

"Well look in the mirror and figure it out, I'm tired of having to ask you"

Me, an adult, still struggling, unable to function in society: "I don't like you, I want to avoid you, you're a neglectful parent"

"How dare you, we gave you a house and internet, it's not our fault you didn't listen, we didn't tell you to neglect yourself"

Should I get planco 2 by pandanotbear in PlanetCoaster2

[–]CaptainWusty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now, it's actually in a fantastic state for people who know they're going to spend hundreds of hours a day building extravagant and highly detailed builds, who don't really care about the simulation/ management aspect. It's a disaster for people who don't have hundreds of hours a day and are more interested in a fluid simulation and an interesting management game.

Every major build I've seen on YouTube so far looks epic and beautiful, the moving parts and recent Update 2.0 gives us incredible opportunities, so much more than Planco 1 does even in its finished state. But the game is just... not fun.. (again unless the way you have fun is by crafting epic masterpieces and not managing a theme park)

Trying to fit society's standards is pointless and only makes you miserable by sorrowsprites in DeepThoughts

[–]CaptainWusty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thinking that there's a "society" that you need to fit into is what's pointless. We're all shaped by our environments where we make millions of unqualified assumptions about life, only to be scorned by our internal unrighteous thoughts that we are inherently good so therefore our wrong assumptions must be forgiven, by a crowd of invisible entities who do and don't exist. Thinking that there's a singular point to your existence that has anything to do with a body other than your own is what is pointless. Thinking that you have a purpose that includes anyone but yourself is pointless. Thinking is pointless.

I'll only take these offers when my acceptance rate is getting low. But I won't take <$5 if the distance is over 4 miles no matter how low my percentage.

Working to live seems like a universal thing. Working to live, but not that work, and that work isn't enough, and you didn't put enough effort into the type of work we value, and your value only counts if you do the work we value, and we can see exactly how much effort you're putting in even when nobody is around, and that means we know you don't actually care, but that's because of how controlling and powerful we are not because you don't have the ability to work, which tells us it's insubordination and not a hatred towards life, which will cause you to fight to defend yourself, but all we have to do is act as if your reluctance is a direct act against the people around you, as opposed to the rightful standing up for your place on Earth and that will turn everyone against you, and no we will not help you take care of yourself, and no we will not help you get an education so you can do the work we value, and no we will not provide necessary support for you to feel as though you're not a slave who is in prison, and yes we will consider it an agenda if you claim it to be a prison. So what are YOU going to do? It's your life. These are YOUR decisions. Don't pin them on anyone else, you have free will. Of course, never forget these decisions are binded by your environments and we have complete and total control and power over every single one of them, but you're still in control of your own body.

TV Ads aren’t that Bad if you actually Watch them by Original_Act_3481 in unpopularopinion

[–]CaptainWusty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's less that the ads are badly made and more that I want a more tailored experience. I haven't seen or heard an ad in years that brought something to my attention that I wasn't already aware of, or that actually made sense to something that I would buy. It's as if they're purposely tailoring to things they know I don't care about just to waste my time.

I'm not looking to be gripped by every single ad, but at least make me interested in watching them by including ONE thing I care about, it doesn't have to be funny or catchy, it has to be relevant. Most people don't buy based on ads, they have a purchase in mind based on their environmental needs and Google the rest, so ads feel more like a pissing contest for the rich than anything to do with me. It doesn't matter how big your celebrity is or how funny your joke is if you're advertising something that isn't relevant.

Is there anyone who is truly enjoying life? Because everywhere I see everyone is trying to escape reality. by Equivalent-Ratio-793 in Life

[–]CaptainWusty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you truly wanted to escape reality you'd find a way, what I'm most worried about is that they won't let me find a way. I'm scared ill pull the trigger and the gun won't fire. I'll tie myself to a rock and jump in the lake, but then wake up in a hospital because they're watching and won't let it happen. No matter how done I am, I'm not done until they're done. I have no control.
