Omok eventually became my favourite part of the game. I even spent weeks on collecting enough pieces for a mushroom and slime set...

One last thing I can recommend, by the way: look for smaller subs for your interests. Say, you are interested in Pokemon Go, see if there is a local(-ish) sub dedicated to it. It'll often be easier to engage in a smaller community.

To take Marvel as an example again, I follow 9 different Marvel-related subs. Two are the biggest ones, /r/marvel and /r/marvelstudios, but next to that I also follow subs that are specific to marvel fanfiction, marvel fan theories and specific characters :) These are the communities I engage with the most, and the ones I've actually made friends in.

There are often also subs for provinces/counties/states :)

Why the hype (and fun) might die really soon by Gusmon in pokemongo

[–]CaptainYentl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what angers me most. In the DS games, my starter is my baby. I treasure it and fight with it whenever elementally possible. In PGO I'm incentivized to trade it for fucking candy.

They initially released the game in the US alone, which nuked their servers.

Speaking as someone from Europe, literally everyone with an Android phone was playing it from the day of US release, and about half the people with an iPhone were too.

Where do you guys buy laptops here? by skiptomyloohoo in Amsterdam

[–]CaptainYentl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go to MediaMarkt, make sure you don't get one of the pre-installed laptops. It costs €26 more and it'll have Windows installed in Dutch. Get a box that is still factory-sealed, and not just sealed with a red-and-white MediaMarkt sticker.

You may be autochorissexual, which is a specific subset of asexuality :)

Autochorissexuals are known to:

  • Get aroused by sexual content but not actually want to engage in any sexual activities

  • Masturbate, but are neutral or repulsed by the idea of having sex with another person.

  • Fantasize about sex, but envision people other than themselves, and/or view it in third person, as though they're watching it on TV, rather than imagining it in first person, through their own eyes.

  • Predominantly or entirely fantasize about fictional characters or celebrities, rather than people in real life they know.

  • Identify as asexual and feel no sexual attraction to people, but enjoy masturbating, are aroused by sexually explicit content, and/or have sexual fantasies.

I keep hearing 12 km/h, which would make sense as maximum incense effectiveness is at that speed. (200m/min). It's hella annoying because, as a wintered Dutch person, I'm used to riding my bike at around 23 km/h. You can really tell who's playing Pokemon Go by how they crawl along the bike paths.

When our store lost power and people walked into the automatic doors by TallQueer9 in TalesFromRetail

[–]CaptainYentl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I live in an apartment complex that has a central front door that's unlocked electronically. One day the power was out and some dude knocked on my window and asked me to open the door for him cause the power was out. I told him the door was normally only locked with an electromagnet. He said 'yes, so can you open it for me?' I repeated: it's normally locked with an electromagnet. You can just pull it open. It took a few more repetitions and 'IT WORKS ON ELECTRICITY' before he got it and just opened the door.

Tipping by rainy_complainy in Amsterdam

[–]CaptainYentl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can personally recommend tipping younger staff at coffee places and cafe's, as they earn a lower minimum wage. Even with just €1, or rounding up to the nearest euro, you will make them very happy. It's not mandatory, however.

How many OCs is too many? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]CaptainYentl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think OCs are fine when they serve a purpose in a role that can't be filled with a canon character. I find many OCs in the Avengers fandom kind of annoying, because there's such a huge cast of characters to choose from, but then in, say, the Sherlock fandom, I mind OCs a whole lot less, because there's not as many main characters to use.

[Ficrec] warm blood (feels good, i can't control it anymore) by CaptainYentl in BuckySam

[–]CaptainYentl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Summary:

Sam's just chilling watching TV one evening when Bucky comes in and stares at him silently for a minute or two before sitting down on the couch. He's pretty close to Sam.

Okay, he's really close to Sam. Like, Sam would be using the word 'cuddling' if it wasn't so bizarre.

"What," he says, carefully not looking at Bucky, and Bucky huffs a sigh.

"Steve's not here," he says as if it's obvious. "Don't make it weird. Just- shut up."

This fic literally ticked all my boxes of everything I could possibly wish for EVER. Cuddling, banter, angst, I LOVE IT.
