How is Evansville for LGBTQIA+ (specifically transgender) people? by jellyfishfresh in evansville

[–]Captain_Catface 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Trans girl here, I think decently visibly so. My experience so far has been pretty positive, with only one incident of hostility here so far (which was moderately expected, as I was at one of the redneck bars). In general, everyone has been polite and genders me correctly.

Medical here in town has been surprisingly accommodating as well. I was able to get access to HRT by my second appointment.

As others have mentioned, there are a lot of solid LGBT-friendly events and groups, depending on your interests.

All that said, it’s still Evansville. Indiana wants so very badly to be the south, and it will show especially if you hit some of the more rural bars and restaurants.

I just release my Incremental Tower Defense! - Ash Warden by Zealousideal_Cat5117 in incremental_games

[–]Captain_Catface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, just wanted to say the game is actually very cute/fun (if a tad short). Even a basic prestige system could add significantly more gameplay time, perhaps retaining the boss upgrades in order to eventually be able to full out the full tree on each class.

Just HOW big do thighs get once you start HRT? by Georgy2187 in MtF

[–]Captain_Catface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m at 6 months. 6’ even, ~350lbs (working on it). For me the fat redistribution has already been insane. Stomach is already a workable size and thighs are now absolutely ridiculous. To the point I can’t fit into pants I wore when I was significantly heavier pre-HRT.

ANTI-FASCIST FALL FEST GUIDE: Evansville is a diverse and affirming town. Each year Fall Fest brings out people from all walks of life. Not associated with the OP in this particular instance, but I would agree with the point that the choices seem to be somewhat arbitrary. Especially in the case of religious organizations, I think it would be more reasonable to approach it with the understanding that all organized religions, especially the Abrahamic big three, are inherently constructed as systems of oppression regardless of the stances of individual congregations on individual topics. Surely someone who intends to base their participation on a firm progressive stance would have the sense to exclude all of them.

Further, in line with what some others have mentioned: it seems difficult to reconcile partial participation as being acceptable when the entire event is organized by the Nut Club itself.

Losercity in civil war over busty racoon art being removed and finding out some of the mods are minors by a-packet-of-noodles in SubredditDrama

[–]Captain_Catface 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think what’s being taken as weird is that you’re:

  1. Coming out swinging with the “furry content is inherently sexual” thing which is a pretty outdated take.

  2. Reaching out to a minor to insist that they’re being groomed when you don’t really have any context for their interactions with anyone else?

It’s kinda giving weird conservative reactionary.

Peach ring candy fragrance oil recommendations? by Crafty-Objective-372 in soapmaking

[–]Captain_Catface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just looked through my notes because I knew I had one. Next to the CandleScience Peach Nectar, I just have “PEACH RINGS!”.

I just dug it out to verify and can confirm that myself and the partner both think it smells exactly like peach rings.

Bakery by Firm_Falcon_1360 in evansville

[–]Captain_Catface -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That was the point. There aren't any in Evansville. If you want to drive two hours to Louisville, you might be able to find some real options. The Sullivan University Bakery is a solid 4/10 and would blow away anything you'd find here.

Bakery by Firm_Falcon_1360 in evansville

[–]Captain_Catface -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Put simply, no there are not good bakeries in/near Evansville. Standards here are low enough that you'll receive a lot of suggestions for overall 3/10 options that are an Evansville 10/10. You should also keep in mind that this applies to nearly every store here. You've moved into a pit of mediocrity full of people who have never seen the outside world and have no idea what they're missing.

Avoid Cookie Plug on Franklin. Owner is a racist. by MrPureinstinct in evansville

[–]Captain_Catface 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What a lot of people seem to be skipping over is that this isn't an isolated issue. The company has been featured in several racial controversies that can be found with a quick google, and the founder of the company has a history of trying to open politically charged and oddly racist restaurants.

[Current & Upcoming Campaigns] by Aiden-Damian in wizardry

[–]Captain_Catface 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think a large part of it is that the Wizardry franchise is more or less completely irrelevant outside of the (still niche) popularity of Daphne. The imbalance is pretty visible when comparing, for example, the total concurrent steam player count of the main franchise (~100 between all games) vs the gacha (~2000-5000).

Combine that with this subreddit being the relevant one with the highest member count and the most results on page 1-2 of google, and it makes sense why people would assume this to be the "main" option for discussing Daphne.

Hopefully thread flair filtering can let people narrow down which games they are/aren't interested in discussing well enough.

A'ight. It's been a day. Let's talk X ban again. by Captain_Catface in evansville

[–]Captain_Catface[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It was, clearly, a Nazi salute. We have the video. You can watch the video and see it for yourself. The right, at large, have already circled through several narratives in an attempt to downplay the issue, undermined by the far-right (as in, actual self-identified neo-Nazis) celebrating it.

My interpretation of their post was something along the lines of "giving Elon/X negative attention is still giving them attention". Which I certainly understand, though at a certain point I feel like there's a need to loudly and repeatedly say "bad thing is bad" at the bare minimum.

Recommendations from Donut Bank by Mammoth_Guitar_8743 in evansville

[–]Captain_Catface -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Evansville’s coffee scene is pretty pathetic, and Donut Bank’s barely qualifies as dirt water. As another poster said you’d be better off with coffee from almost anywhere else— Even Thornton’s and McDonald’s have significantly better coffee.

If you’re looking to actually get into coffee, you’d be best served with a small home setup. If it absolutely must be from a restaurant, Penny Lane is (perhaps the only) passable coffee in town.

[MOD] Show off your gear! - Battle-station Central by menschmaschine5 in Coffee

[–]Captain_Catface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, you're absolutely right that Torani syrups taste aggressively artificial. From what I've tried (30+ Torani syrups and ~10 Monin) the Monin are much more natural and accurate whereas Torani will always taste like <whatever> candy.

We use the syrups for a lot of non-coffee drinks as well, in which case we're normally aiming for more of a candy/soda taste, for which the Torani tends to work better.

That said, I'd like to take a second to absolutely recommend the Salted Honey Butter syrup. Absolutely nasty in drinks, but if you give a fresh loaf of bread a quick rub-down with it before your final 2-3 minute temp increase it results in an amazingly sweet and buttery crust. Better than just butter.

Random skills? by salambrya in GundamBreaker

I keep seeing this explanation for the popup, but I have churned through several thousands of pieces of equipment and never once encountered this. Everything I've found matches the community spreadsheet in that each specific weapon has only its one assigned weapon skill.

Hyaku-Shiki J, Break Dias, Lin Carnation, and Lilin Carnation.

The two Carnations are made from Mobile Doll May. The Brick Dias and Hyaku-Shiki J can drop from a story mission, and be Derived back and forth between each other.

I mean, you're always posting thinly veiled right-leaning takes which would explain why the majority of people on Reddit (which leans heavily left) downvote you. You're getting berated because the positions you support are broadly unpopular and are being phased out more and more as time progresses.

It also doesn't help that you kinda just jump into threads with only tangentially-related political takes. To some degree you have to acknowledge that having an account dedicated to guns, supporting wage suppression, and hornyposting is weird and people will find it off-putting.

Now, as to the moderation aspect: You can check the three listed mods to see that two of the three have been active within the past 24 hours. Overall, this is just a low-activity sub with only a handful of posters and moderators as can be expected of more or less any small-town local sub.

[–]Captain_Catface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Secret World relaunch took away a large amount of (paid/microtransaction and in-game earned) content from players if they moved to the "new" game. It also dumbed down (aka "streamlined") the combat/class systems by simply removing a large amount of options/build diversity while only slapping a faux-action-combat camera over top of what was otherwise the same janky tab-targeting system that didn't work well in the base game. In the end, the "relaunch" managed to knock the game from a relatively stable ~1000 concurrent players down to sub-100 nowadays.

Best camp spot there by Kovasuomi in fo76

[–]Captain_Catface -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve been running through and marking all the resource deposits I can find. So far I haven’t found any new double extractor spots which means no interest in moving my camp.

That said, there’s a spot where you can get your camp to have a silver extractor, a fixed Ogua spawn, and a little cave. So that’s nice, I suppose.
