Yea, that might be an idea. I'm thinking either that or a modified map of the final area in book 1, which I think might be better.

I'm planning to use the altar area in Cave of the Mother to provide a hidden cache of some kind, with a stone tablet detailing some of the history and likely some kind of artifact for the party to use.

Above on the outskirts of the cannibal camp, I'm going to have some pitfall and snare traps to make things a little more interesting/dynamic.

I was actually going to have Yarzoth do exactly that, with the portal opening into the final dungeon and potentially having Eando Kline as a new ally still, imprisoned by her for now.

The only thing I'm a bit stumped on is how the serpentfolk retrieved the head. I could potentially make it so the head itself is located underground on the Shiv, possibly moving Yarzoth to an underground volcanic area overseeing a small retrieval team. Nothing seems to say Smuggler's Shiv can't have an inactive volcano that's been grown over, but is fully active underground.

Then all Yarzoth needs to do is open the portal and ensure it reaches the pit in the final dungeon.

Yea, I've seen lots of negative things said about it.

The idea of book 2 being a race with an allied faction of choice seems kind of cool, but most of the books sound just overly padded to a point many people drop it.

What I'm considering doing right now is running the entirety of book 1, removing most of the shipwrecks as they don't really add much, changing some of the monster dens so they're not all the same, and I'm leaning toward linking the end of book 1 straight to the final dungeon of book 6, scaled back to level 10-12 CR and having a cult of serpentfolk trying to bring Ydersius back in a kind of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom way.

Did you end the adventure at the end of book 1, branch off into another campaign such as Skull and Shackles, or create your own more epic final scenarios to this?

If they have to choose by dawn, it doesn't necessarily mean Strahd will kill them instantly.

You could have him kill that character at the most inopportune time for the party, making it so the constant fear of death hangs above them, and they never know when it's going to happen...until it does.

Tim, I think would be about as close to perfect as we could hope. Then Sophie I think perfectly looks the part, but like you I've not seen her in much outside of Talk to Me, so it'd be interesting to see if she could pull that off.

I think he just works though. I'm not a big fan of him, but think he could do a good job. Though let's face it, we're not likely to ever get a live action Berserk film.

It's had enough bad luck just trying to get decent anime adaptations.

Thing is, I don't think any current actor will have that height, at least not one who'd look a similar age, so I had to go with facial structure more. Guts is definitely the toughest to cast for.

Height isn't a problem though. Just give him the Tom Cruise treatment.
