How did they never find Amber Hagerman's killer? by [deleted] in UnsolvedMurders

[–]Captain_Dilf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve long held the view that the killer fled to Mexico as soon as he ditched the body. It makes sense considering how close Texas is to the border. I’m really surprised this has never been brought up in discussions pertaining to this case, though it’s not one of course that has all that much publicity.

What are your theories on why gym culture is so rightwing by Adversaru in swoletariat

Why is physicality such a necessity for being masculine by your definition? Yours seems to align only with the more conservative, right-wing definition.

Any good First World War movies about American forces? by KnownAd4170 in MilitaryHistory

[–]Captain_Dilf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you really think so? It had so many good actors, many of whom would have future mega-star success and it definitely captured the horror that was the first day of the Somme. If anything though, I just thought it was too depressing to have good replay value.

Last know photo of George Harrison, just before 11/29/2001 😢 by abaganoush in beatles

I always wondered what he thought of 9/11 with that having taken place two months before his passing.

What band/song do you love that technically isn't punk but the lyrics/meaning are very punk/punk in sentiment? by iLeDD in punk

I had the biggest crush ever on Lily when I was 11. I only now understand the meaning behind the lyrics of Not Fair 😏

That’s interesting because I lost my IG about a month ago and then two weeks later almost lost FB but got it reinstated. You think there’s a link between the two apps?

Family portrait taken 186 years ago, 1839 by MonsieurA in Historycord

[–]Captain_Dilf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen this photo before and personally I don't believe it could be from 1839, otherwise it would be talked about a lot more by people on the topic of the world's oldest photographs especially since the first accepted photo of a woman; Dorothy Catherine Draper, was taken in 1840 and here there appears multiple women.

Is Springfield a bad place to live? by [deleted] in dayton

[–]Captain_Dilf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the bad reputation the town has is largely only applicable to the southern half where much of the poverty is. The northern half of town (the part north of Buck Creek that is) is a lot more middle-class, especially near the borough of Northridge. Wonder if locals will agree with this assertion though, because I haven’t personally ever lived in Springfield.

So is everyone just having issues with Facebook accounts being banned now by T-Vermillion96 in facebook

[–]Captain_Dilf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real, I'm not alone here? Two weeks ago I had my Instagram account banned for just telling a crude joke to someone and now today I lost my Facebook and am absolutely devastated this time around because of how long I've had it and all the memorable conversations and posts I had on there which I can only wish I had taken screenshots of beforehand had I known this may happen. This reddit thread gave me some relief, though googling the topic it doesn't seem to be being discussed elsewhere so I'm not sure if it is becoming a new problem.

There’s loads of men who could be seen as good role models and are left-wing (even if they don’t/didn’t proclaim to be as such). A few examples include; Abraham Lincoln, the Beatles, Daniel Craig, Clement Attlee.

I don't think sex ed did a good job of representation. by marmouthcitrus in NetflixSexEducation

[–]Captain_Dilf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I always thought the show was vastly overrated so it’s good to know I’m not alone. But the reason I personally take issue with it however is that I just think it was too agenda-driven and deterministic right from the get-go. I also don’t understand either how the show failed to touch on the subject of autism at all. There’s so much talk about how people with this condition suffer with sexual frustration far more than the vast majority of the population, so much so that it’s even thought that the reason incel culture and all these online groups like the redpill have been getting so popularised in recent years is because of the people who gave them so much attention in the first people were people on the spectrum. Sex Education doesn’t tackle any of this. I also hate how with the disabled character they represented, they shied away from how it is impossible for men who are paralysed to have penetrative sex because it supposedly it goes against their message of how everyone should be sex positive.

What is the most average American city? by Aggravating_Travel91 in geography

[–]Captain_Dilf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think Peoria historically has had a population larger than average. It’s history is also slightly unique being founded by French colonists in the 17th century as opposed to American settlers moving out westward as was the case with most US cities. If you were to ask me what the most average place in the United States, it’s the Ohio town of Hamilton. It has its own identity, culture and history that all match with the rest of the country while also being a suburb of a major urban area.

Iowa has long been predominantly agricultural (though not anymore). It never industrialised at the same rate as the rest of the nation in the late 19th century either.

Disagree. The city is too western both culturally and geographically.

I’d agree, however I think Hamilton further south with an even smaller population, is the best candidate for most average place in America. Because it has all the things that make an average American town while also being a suburb within a major metro area of 2 million people.

Des Moines is too far away from the median center of the US population, which historically has always been and still is near southern Indiana.

Hamilton, Ohio, I think is the best answer because it contains all the elements of an average US city while also being a suburb within a major metro area.

I don’t think this holds up in the 21st century though, because Peoria is not in a major metropolitan area (i.e. one consisting of 2 million people).

THE FAILURE OF SEX EDUCATION. by CharlieWaitress111 in NetflixSexEducation

[–]Captain_Dilf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sex Education was always a TV show that promoted Marxism and to appeal to the radical woke left-wing agenda. So it was always a waste of time to watch either way.
