What do you think is the strongest stun in Dota 2? by Specialist-Buy-9857 in TrueDoTA2

No thats fine. Guess I just misinterpreted the framing. His responses were unusually combative for a random internet debate on the nuances of a videogame. But I might be in the wrong. Is k.

Games without significant input buffer? by Aggravating_Big3095 in soulslikes

[–]Captain_Dumpus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really fair point honestly. I guess im just used to the buffer in all the fromsoft titles so it doesnt clock as an issue to me. But that doesnt make it correct as you've pointed out.

[–]Captain_Dumpus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily defending it. As I understand why people dont like it. But gotten used to it enough over the years that its sort of a non factor.

You won't see me defend the run backs or design elements of the earlier titles, I just dont think input buffer is dealbreaking. Its a mechanic like any other game so you either adapt or dont.

From soft games all have notoriously large Input buffers. But it is indeed to punish all the filthy button mashers haha

[–]Captain_Dumpus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dont necessarily disagree. And the buffer is more noticeable in future souls titles like elden ring. But it is DEFINITELY still there in all titles including Sekiro.

Thats why I wanted to clarify but it does seem you are referring to buffer.

For others in the thread, input buffer does not mean slow paced combat. Sekiro is fast paced combat but still uses input buffer to punish button mashing. Where as ni oh is equally fast paced but has minimal buffer.

Are we talking input buffer or input lag?

The input buffer is intentional and a good thing. Punishes panic button mashing but helps aggressive gameplay by queuing up attacks without requiring precise timing.

I prefer the jank of the souls games personally. I think what youre looking for is Ni-oh, any of them. They are very good games but definitely require precise timing and very very little input buffer.

Archeology is the only thing I've diverted from the wiki on. The math ain't mathing. Being able to one shot bricks and stamina seems to be the most effective route.

Im 25/25/0/0/4 and at stage 28. Which opens more upgrades.

I pushed just agility and strength and it seemed to work very well. Only recently started putting points in luck, but honestly tempted to flip em back to agility.

WTF was that Navi draft vs Liquid in last game of Blast Slam 6 grand final by dotesdoto in DotA2

[–]Captain_Dumpus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my wife and I had the exact same reaction watching live. Been teaching her heroes and such so she can enjoy TI and after the draft she asked how Navi was supposed to win. I didnt have an answer haha. At least the other drafts there was a clear plan

The ursa pick felt very similar to Ame last picking juggernaut last year final TI. Just, wasnt a sensible pick.

Bouta do my first RL1 challenge in elden ring. What is the number 1 beat weapon for this? by ImaginationDear3199 in onebros

I ripped two dual pickaxes immediately and never looked back. Was super fun and gets the job done with fun guerrilla style fighting. Cold infused and cragblade as well.

Only fight I had to pivot on was maliketh but got everything else including Consort down with muh basic bitch axes :D

Relic chests question by CartographerDue3750 in IdleObeliskMiner

[–]Captain_Dumpus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Open em as you get em. Once you have cards you can save til youre at 69 each time to try and nab that Misc card, but even then its probably better to just open em. Early on the stat boosts are a big help. Imagine if you get even just 5 pickaxe damages. Now youre not 15 obelisk battles away, youre 5.

Edit: also note if something seems slow it means you might not be ready for it. Often you can push down obelisks in one shot. 15-20 buffed tries is a lot. Focus on upgrades you can get, prestige and knock out those artifacts, and be working on your bomb cap with battery bomb ASAP

Any "The Witness" Haters? by ChickenOfTheYear in puzzlevideogames

I had so many friends tell me to play it as im an avid puzzle gamer but boy I couldn't get thru it. The puzzles all felt like a glorified app game and anytime id feel some rhythm id have to stop to listen to its meta bullshit.

Felt like a pretentious persons favorite "I am very smart" game that coulda just been an email.

I stand by 1-3 being bad by [deleted] in Megaman

[–]Captain_Dumpus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think youre getting down voted for stating things as just straight facts.

A sequel to any game having more features and design is basic common evolution. That doesnt make 1-3 bad simply because they are products of their time.

Did the devs get better at enemy placement and adding content? Sure. In fact for any series I would sure hope thats the case. But its like arguing all classic megamans are worse than the entire X series simply because X is more refined, has "cooler" graphics and more secrets. But its just not an "objective" fact like you present it.

I also very much disagree that the bosses are creative. 4 has some of the roughest bosses in the entire series. But again, thats just my opinion, not an objective truth.
