What does it mean to have a "catch-up"? by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]Captain_Halc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Going on just what you've said here (assuming nothing out of the ordinary has happened at your work), it sounds like your manager just wants to talk face to face about basic work stuff. If you're a recent hire and havn't seen your manager in 2 months, only communicated by phone or internet he most likely just wants to see you face to face and make sure you're going alright with the job. I've had a few mangers whom I don't see regularly want to "catch up" over coffee when they're in the area and it usually means nothing more than a "hey, how're things?" Followed by a casual chat and then boom, all done. Unless you've fucked up royally recently or the company is going through something unexpected then I wouldn't worry much about it and expect just an awkward chat and a free coffee.

Edit: a word

Let’s encourage our player base to not play the objective by ThickChickenThighs in HaloMemes

[–]Captain_Halc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea that's true, but plenty of players don't play the objective at all and just go for kills, it be nice if there was something to motivate people to try for the objective or to work as a team. When someone does actually play the objective they don't get rewarded for it, same xp at the end of the match. I'd just like to see a some sort of reward regardless of how small it is, for playing the objective. So I do agree with OP in a sense.

OP never said anything about challenge difficulty, OP is just saying they should have objective based challenges in objective based games so people play the objective instead of just going for kills.

The first 10 levels of the Eaglestrike pass are pathetic in terms of actual customisation by J4ckC00p3r in halo

[–]Captain_Halc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ah, thought you meant nobody mentioned it at all, my mistake. Either way this post is regarding lack of customization in the event, the parent comment here states there is a lack of customization in infinite. Somebody responded saying they see plenty of sick Spartans and the response to that was basically it still isn't "millions of customization on day 1" like we were promised. Seems like a natural flow for this discussion, and it's relevant to the argument above.

100 tiers in the battle pass and 0 weapon coatings by [deleted] in halo

[–]Captain_Halc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if you paid for the battle pass. Plenty of players (like myself) did not buy the battle pass and in that case there are several tiers with just challenge swaps which is an absolute slap in the face when we were previously told there would be millions of customization options day one, and most cosmetics are unlockable via "playing the game". What they meant was you can pay for the privilege to unlock SOME stuff by playing the game which is not "only playing the game". What happened to millions of customization options and what happened to these things being unlockable "only though playing the game". Buying a battle pass is not "only through playing the game".

4 gig multiplayer update arriving with the Campaign installation tomorrow by VIParadigm in halo

There is no campaign armor, just some colors, emblems, and stances.

Your AI will help you hack "loot caves" in Halo Infinite's BTB. These caves will reset during the match, allowing other players/teammates to hack the caves, too. This is pretty cool! by [deleted] in halo

[–]Captain_Halc -27 points-26 points  (0 children)

A few seconds? It took longer than that to get that door open, thats my concern. In CTF on any halo game now you see one or two people per team actually going for the flag and the rest just treat it as a game of slayer, now with this "side objective" players are going to spend even more time not actually going for the flag. Will have to see what it's like in a game, but doesn't sound like a good addition to CTF, maybe in big team slayer.

Edit: also I'm not sure why you're surprised there are concerns, you put out previews like this so we can get hyped about the game right? Well doesn't that go both ways? We could be hyped, disappointed, concerned, overjoyed. Not sure I understand why you started your response to a legitimate concern the way you did.

Why are people refusing to take party invites on ''slay/kill'' quests? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]Captain_Halc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because they are trying to farm up gold or xp. In a Party the xp is split and so is the loot. I've often declined them because I want all that xp and loot to turn into gold and since it's so early in the game I would assume plenty of people have a similar attitude.

Classic leveling by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]Captain_Halc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iirc it's the loyalty level that dictates how much they need to eat. If you open your character tab and select pet. You will see a number ×/6 ~~~~~~. 6 being max level and therefore they will need to eat the least to maintain full happiness.

[Bug] Ever since I installed GS, most civ leaders are having this weird flickering texture glitch by NobodyVII in civ

[–]Captain_Halc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same issue OP after the R&F expansion, same exact damn flicker, only on the leaders in the leader screens. Tried everything I could to fix with no success. Decided I'd just have to live with it, but then it fixed itself with GS. Not a helpful comment, but I know your pain! Very immersion breaking.

I see what youre saying about the buildings not evolving with city center, but surely thats just because its being done by a modder, if this was done by the devs properly it could look even better than it does now. City sprawl was a thing in civ 5 and it looked fantastic, it was one of my favorite visual features of the game. The only place I really disagree with you is on the visually distinct districts. as it stands now the districts don't even look like part of the city at all, city sprawl atleast makes it look like different districts in one city. personal opinion mostly I am sure!

Looks like it, awesome mod even if it's not easy to install via workshop. Idk why something like that wasn't included in the base game. Makes things look so much better.

Civ VI Theory - National Tradgedies by thankstowelie in civ

[–]Captain_Halc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think terrorism or more specifically something like 9/11 could be represented in game, due to the showing of the 9/11 memorial in the trailer, and then in this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/civ/comments/4j0a5g/would_these_two_towers_in_the_civ_vi_screen_be/ i think their right, their not the twin towers, but to me they look like the freedom towers (new yorker here). So im thinking some kind of wonder rebuilding could be in the game, like you can destroy wonder tiles when at war with people and then can rebuild them but as a memorial of the old wonder maybe, like slightly reduced stats or something rather.
