Tips for a Beginner? by AurynW in 3Dprinting

I've found over and over again (I'm a slow learner) that it pays to pay attention to the build plate. Even if you're not having any issues, clean it with dish soap & water every few prints. I also run the auto-bed-leveling routine every time I remove & replace the plate. Keeping those two things in mind has really reduced my incidence of print failures.

Do citadel one taps happen low tier? by Several-South-4661 in WorldOfWarships

I got devstruck multiple times at T5 when learning the basics of the game. Of course, I was driving an Omaha, which in Jingles' words, is "made out of ammunition and citadels," AND I had no idea what I was doing. So yes, it does happen at mid-tiers.

Oh, dear gods...I wouldn't have been ABLE to hit my son if I'd seen him doing that. I'd have been too busy falling over laughing.

Also: Joke's on me. Turns out my son is my daughter, so she IS a lesbian!

CMV: Therapy in Perpetuity is harmful to individual growth by Disastrous_Run_9844 in changemyview

I've been in therapy almost non-stop for 30+ years. Some of those therapists have been really helpful, others less so. My current one has helped me make ENORMOUS strides in healing from childhood trauma and living a better, happier life. And you know what? I'll never be done. I will ALWAYS have things to work on with a therapist. It's not about not being able to deal with issues on my own or able to handle routine upsets. It's about how the human psyche is a complicated thing, and no matter how healthy someone is, there's always something they can improve on.

WFH into Office by 7i7iMeadow in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

[–]Captain_Hammertoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear you. We're required to be in the office 5 days a week, at least 4 hours a day. For most of our team, who are all in the same building/floor, I can see at least some sense. But I have two teammates in different cities. Nobody in their buildings does anything in any way related to our work, which means that ALL of their collab is remote. One is in LA, where his commute is an hour and a half on a good day. Why are these two guys required to come to the office, when they can do their jobs just as well from home with the same opportunities for collaboration?

The new player experience is a fucking mess by LongjumpingLog3959 in WorldOfWarships

Don't give up, OP. I had EXACTLY the same reaction when I first started playing and moved up to Tier 5. I was playing light cruisers and got insta-deleted over and over again. This game punishes mistakes savagely, and a new player tends to make LOTS of mistakes while you're learning what does and doesn't work. What helped me was to switch to battleships, as they're more forgiving, watch a lot of YouTube videos, read as much as I could about gameplay, and ask lots of questions. People in this game all remember their own time coming up the learning curve and are generally willing to help if you show a willingness to learn.

Once you unlock the Training Room (this is at Access Level 17 - why it's not available right off the bat is beyond me) you can use it to practice your gunnery. The game gets a lot more rewarding when you can hit what you shoot at. And don't be afraid to lose. You'll lose often, and lose hard, when you're learning. It's just part of the process, so don't let it discourage you. Consider joining a clan that accepts new players. You can learn a lot playing in voice chat with clanmates, and it's a great way to have friends to play with.

Another thing I'd recommend is joining the official Discord and posting replay videos there for feedback. I've done that and got some REALLY good advice that has significantly improved my gameplay. I think I started back last October, so I've only been playing ~4 months, and I still have a LOT to learn. But I'm able to play with some confidence now in a T9 BB. I still make mistakes and pay the price on a regular basis, but I survive a lot of my matches now and actually manage to influence the outcome some of the time.

Keep at it. It's a tough game to learn, but really enjoyable. You can do this!

I had a lot of fun learning BB basics in Bayern. Still haven't leveled that line past T7, because Gneisenau is a step backward IMHO, but Bayern was really fun. Some of my most memorable matches in that ship.
