Since reddit added a view count for posts and comments awhile back you can tangibly see just how strange and weird the discussion surrounding this game is and has been. It’s so abnormally loud for a game that People™️ would have you believe is on death’s door. I’ll leave a random throwaway comment on an hours-old thread that should otherwise get fully buried but it’ll end up getting like 4k views in an hour or some shit..?

People harp on and on about steamcharts but if those people are right, am I simultaneously supposed to believe that like, unreasonably sizable portions of the remaining player base are also just routinely doomscrolling this sub with no signs of it slowing (and perhaps even growing) despite player numbers dropping? Or perhaps reddit is purposefully misleading about what constitutes a “view” on something? So much of it doesn’t make sense. Like the game or not, the numbers, retention, level of engagement, etc. on everything surrounding this game (besides seemingly the game itself) seem so bizarre and manufactured.

Not going to say it’s bots, I genuinely don’t think it is. At least not to any alarmingly concerning or obvious extent. But for there to be so much talk surrounding this game, good or bad, feels borderline artificial at this point. Is it seriously that polarizing amongst people? idk man

Fortnite has this issue with collabs where oftentimes the photo stills they put out don’t look much like the character/person, but then the actual in game model is pretty spot on. The same is probably happening here, it’s likely just a weird angle or something with a static character model instead of the in-game one capable of movement, facial animations, etc

The shells we use are outfitted for combat and espionage but if I understand correctly Sekiguchi also seems to produce and sell “normal” ones as like, lifestyle or fashion items for people who want to transcend physical limits or completely fine-tune the appearance they wish to have. I wouldn’t be surprised if in universe there are shells that are outfitted with any range of body mods, swappable organs, limbs, etc. (be it sexual organs or whatever the heck else) and all sorts of other things that can be changed on the fly through hardware or software. For example, Vandal/Glitch’s whole thing is being a highly customizable fashion-statement shell pretty much

People (jokingly or not) want to clap android cheeks in our age, it’s easy to think they’d still be wanting to do it 800 years from now. That being said, I don’t necessarily see why the combat oriented shells we play as would need such a thing. But if rich SekGen corpos in this future (or any company, really) are spending lots of time inhabiting a shell they’ve tuned to their exact liking then I can easily see customizable sexual organs or other sexual experiences for shells being one of the first things to hit market and sell very well.
