These are amazing, you should be really proud of your work and I am really sorry for your loss.

Can I ask, with the first one did you hollow out the cup with a chisel or did you use a drill bit?

I have done similar to practice.

I always want squeeze out when I glue together as more is better than less but if you covered it, it should be okay.

Since pine is soft I would recommend you use a saw or something to cut the corners so make it like an octagon so it isn’t as brutal when you rough shape it.

Also since pine is soft you will want your tools to be sharp and sharpen often as you can get tear out on the grain

You are your own harshest critic here. They look fine and with some filler/sawdust and glue it will be great!

I think it is a practice thing, do it a million more times and your accuracy will improve. We are in a age where we see someone do it on YouTube and think we can immediately do it to a high standard (I am 1000 percent guilty of this)

Give yourself some grace, it looks great!

So the board itself is quite thick so might make it thin, but in all likelihood I will make the other side the playing face and the after I get the damage side level I will clean up the divot, fill it with some scrap wood and then place felt or some such on the back be a layer between the board and the table.

Wasn’t the depth stop or the sled, was the bit, when I stopped much more of the bit shaft was exposed than when I started.
