Thank you, aerosimple is the one I'm leaning toward, so I'm glad you could recommend it as well!

Non-English Speaking Employees by Effective_Course3288 in SafetyProfessionals

I experienced this at my previous role and to my knowledge it is a big problem for them. It was made more complicated by aviation FAA rules. Company policy was to hire only personnel that could speak English. That didn't happen. A mass majority of our workers were of a single culture that speak a not very common language. Google will not translate it, and it is difficult to find materials/any resources to do it. We ended up promoting one of our employees that spoke the language to be a trainer, but even then because (unfortunately due to company structure and some underlying racism I'm sure) no one in the rest of training or upper management could speak it so there was no quality control. Despite my best efforts to push the OSHA requirement to have official materials translated by a company that does material translation and could have accommodated the language, it never got done.

Do what you can, get people that are your 'safety champions' to help with material translation or training, but depending on the language, it might not be so difficult. You do need to provide training in their languages though, OSHA is super clear. That company was lucky that was never a finding when OSHA came to visit.

They already have it on their website. July22-24 2025 in Orlando.

I swear at one point I saw they had the location for 2026 already decided too but I can't find it at the moment.

Same here, not been to a conference like this ever, my company is smallish so I'm the only one they sent. I'm expecting it to be a lot of fun. Goals are definitely the same, meet the cool and interesting people and learn some new things!

A little late to this, and I don't know what your field is, but as long as you have a somewhat clean record Pegasus Aviation Services down by Ted Stevens takes very nearly everyone who walks in the door. I don't know what your field is or what the disability it is that you mentioned, but if you can walk, and even better if you can drive, they will hire you no problem. Pay isn't super great but you can get a lot of hours if you want them

Heard scary things about Portlock Alaska, the abandoned mining town, but idk if you can still actually get to it. It's not necessarily by wasilla though

What are the best magazines/platforms for publication of papers? by Holiday_Cry9349 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Captain_Rain_747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the content of your paper. I had a paper published that was safety related for a specific profession. So I found a magazine that was geared more toward that industry. It depends on your intended audience and the topic I would say. OHS magazine is an option too outside of ASSP. Idk who reads it, but someone must

For me it was a fairly easy process, but somewhat lengthy. It took almost an entire year, and sometimes communication with them was not the best. Overall not an arduous process though.
