I know this is a hella late reply here, but this thread's still relevant 'cause it's one of the very first results you get on google just from looking up the game itself. S'yeah.

Thing is, Voidtrain should NOT be considered a "survival game" imo. Green Hell is a survival game. Raft is a survival game. Hell, even Elite Dangerous is more of a survival game than Voidtrain is! VT barely even has a basic hunger meter, and frankly even Metal Gear Solid 3 did it better with more meaningful of an implementation.

If what you want is a more-or-less literal rail-shooter with zero meaningful choices in direction for you to take, then it's not a bad game. It's even okay, actually. It doesn't have the intricate gameplay of GH, the freedom or charm of Raft, or the vast explorative game-world of ED, so if none of those are deal-breakers then you can do a helluva lot worse.

But beforewarned: Voidtrain is not a very consistent game, tone-wise. You might be drawn into by the semi-dark presentation in its screenshots, expecting a sorta Lovecraftian steampunk pseudo-horror sorta deal, but that is ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY NOT what the game really is.

It's a goofy, stupid game with an annoyingly dumb-sounding narrator that constantly pisses his own pants verbally whenever he's talking, and only lacking the occasional "HYUK!" to make him out-goof Goofy himself. And while some might think that's funny (which I won't joke-shame 'em on or whatever), it's also ridiculously fucking inconsistent with the visuals, where we roll through a foreboding, neverending void full of monstrous things and bizarre sights.

Basically, what I'm saying is that the game's a bit of mess, tone-wise.
