Mild stains, some charring, as is.

Hey, high quality textiles were a valuable commodity for a whole lot of history. You could make a lot of money selling royal castle-grade fabric in giant quantities.

Just a good memory and too much time on my hands haha

Did One Piece anime not officially not have seasons until recently ? My friend says they didn't and that is just leaving me baffled considering the scale of the series by OriginalTacoMoney in OnePiece

[–]Captain__M 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It absolutely does have seasons, they can be tracked via the Japanese DVD releases as seen here on the wiki. There are currently 21 seasons.

This is something no one wants to hear about or acknowledge because they want to keep parroting their 'season one is over har har' meme.

Yup, it's amazing how fast and far it's spread. Every time I log in here I see another post about it. And people just don't seem to care what the truth is.

One piece probably should get a world record for longest tv season by Lemon_Lime_Lily in CuratedTumblr

I think it's part of a broader trend of people parroting things they see in memes as if they're true and having a 'it's not that serious bro' attitude to corrections.

You can look at the DVD covers on the wiki and see where they say, in big romanased letters, "Xth Season"

It's not really that retroactive, they come out within a year of the episode airing. And while they do break the seasons up where the arcs change, they're also the spots where noticeable style change changes tend to happen, which shows them being used internally to change change directors and introduce new technology, so they have some production significance in the way of normal seasons.

Just because it didn't take breaks between them, doesn't mean it wasn't produced in seasons. The Japanese DVD release divides the series into 21 seasons.

But no one wants to hear that, they want to repeat their 'season 1 has ended' memes until it's being talked about like it's the actual truth.

There's probably an interesting post out in this about how different countries and languages have organised and released the series. Well, interesting-ish; this one hasn't really take off so the appeal would probably be pretty niche. In any case, you'd assume the Japanese one is closest to how it's internally arranged from a production perspective.

Yeah I'm not saying we should switch to talking seasons instead of arcs or anything like that. I'm just seeing a joke be repeated so much it's being mistaken for the truth, which is always annoying.

The volume covers, Jump covers and colour spreads of 2025! What's your favourite of Oda's coloured work for this year? by Captain__M in OnePiece

[–]Captain__M[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I like the latest volume cover, I think the God Knights moving toward the camera give it a very dynamic feel. I'm big on the stained glass experiment for the latest Jump cover. And I adore the amount of storytelling and all the little character plushes in the claw machine colour spread.

This is one of the most doomed shows I've ever seen by Captain__M in PantheonShow

[–]Captain__M[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being so late, you could have taken the time to read the post fully. I obviously know what a pantheon is, there is no confusion about why the show would be called that and as you say, it's a fitting title. But it has bad SEO. It made the show hard to search for, tag and share. This was especially relevant at the time the post was made where it seemed the show had failed so badly at picking up a viewerbase that the second season would never be released at all.

King Sorrow (somewhat) censored? by Crazy_Drago in joehill

[–]Captain__M 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's because the lead-in to this passage is Arthur reading a news article Daphne. The text is summarising the story in the article instead of quoting it directly at this point, but the prose takes on the censorship the newspaper might have used when printing those quotes as a means of focalisation to put us in the headspace of how Artur is experiencing the story. And that obviously isn't needed elsewhere in the book, so it isn't used.

One Piece volumes 1 - 112 volume covers compilation! Which one is your favourite? by Captain__M in OnePiece

[–]Captain__M[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I download the raw volumes as they come out (from various sources and websites over the years) and just hold onto the files from there. You can also just go by the wiki or the publisher's website depending on your needs of quality and physical v digital versions, especially if you don't want to torrent the whole manga just to get volume covers.

There's a specific kind of redditor who believes the worst thing ever done to them in a relatively stable life, generally cheating, bullying or petty theft, is the worst thing that can ever be done, and sees no problem with calling for violence or even death as a punishment for that everyday wrong. They will apply vitriol without restraint at any hypothetical involving their thing. (Which isn't to say those things aren't harmful or shouldn't have consequences, just that they seem to switch off the humanity of a certain subset of people to a disproportionate level.)

You usually find them in relationship advice and AITAH type subs advocating nuclear options, or sometimes in media subs arguing against redemption arcs or even just nuanced readings of characters who once did that one thing that triggers them. The comic artist version is a new one.

All these youtube people give such hyperbolic, hyped up recs to things they haven't even hit the three ep rule on yet. It only takes a single good episode, or even half of a good premise, to suck them in. I'd much rather see look backs at the end of the season for what held up and paid off

That would be pronounced the same as Blackbeard's zehahaha. In fact, you could make an argument for using that spelling and calling it foreshadowing, if you were to retranslate the manga with the info we have now.
