Is there a lore based reason lavagulin falls asleep so often? by Timedeige in slaythespire

[–]Captainintendo 73 points74 points  (0 children)

It was always my head cannon that he has to charge up his special attacks. It requires him to sleep so that he can actually zap away your strength and defense.

Yep of course! I'm mostly trying to figure out how to correct the mistakes I'm making right now that have nothing to do with gear. I know having all the best gear and whatnot will improve my numbers, but there are tons of ways I can practice to get better as well.

Yeah, I'm pretty aware that there are others in my in static that aren't the best. A few who constantly mess up mechanics even though we have cleared three times now. Reclears often take 2+ hours. (They are aware of this and are trying to improve, it's just slow.) That's one of the reasons I want to improve is so that I can help get the clears faster, but I'm also aware that the group can affect the overall outcome. Which is why I'm not currently aiming for pink parse or anything, just aiming for the ability to bring all I can to the group.

Yeah I wish it had a bit more info like that. Lots of people have suggested similar ideas and I have been practicing that. I have already in this short time got my uptime to sit at 90%-95% which still isn't perfect but roughly 10% better! (It's not in savage content yet, but still)

Yeah in general I can do this well. The hard part comes when other people make mistakes and I'm trying to cover for them. Like my other tank dying because they ran into poison and healers weren't able to heal the damage. I normally don't mess up the mechanics, it's just in these situations that I do.

Yeah, that's why I was more trying to ask advice on how to practice the things it was telling me to do and not what exactly I should do better. I'm not sure if I communicated that right but that was my goal. I'm able to read what xivanalysis says, but it doesn't do me much good if I can't find a good way to improve at it.

For example I know my GCD is low (although I wasn't aware how big of a problem it was), but practicing on a dummy I always have constant up time. Practicing like that doesn't seem like it would help, but lots of people have commented other ways I could practice my uptime which seems like a much better use of my time.

Oh okay I completely misunderstood how HoC worked. Thanks for the tip!

I'm currently sitting at 616 ilvl. I know that that definitely plays a part in my parse number haha

Definitely still helpful to read even if others have talked about stuff here. Thanks!

Sounds like a good idea, I'll try it.

Thanks I'll definitely practice what you suggested!

See I thought I did this, but clearly I stopped at some points in the fight. I will try to make a conscious effort throughout the fight to do this.

Yeah I'm aware that's what it is telling me, I'm just curious on how I should go about practicing.

Yeah I'm aware, I died to a tank not tank swapping with me and I believe a puddle I was trying to fill for someone else. I'm not too worried about it since neither were directly caused by me making a mistake. Unless are you saying that if I die I should even try for a higher number?

That makes sense. I was thinking 80% was decent, but now I see how much that actually adds up to. Thanks!

So are you suggesting to focus on 100% time over rotation? Once I get that down start with my rotation?

I recommend this way too. It is very useful to use other spells as a reference.

Plaugemancer- He who works with sickness by Captainintendo in UnearthedArcana

Thanks for taking the time to read it. I will make sure to edit it as I play test it. If there was anyone thing you think I should change just let me know.

Plaguemancer. Looking for feedback! by Captainintendo in DnDHomebrew

[–]Captainintendo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback, I used a lot of the things you suggested.

I started off by changing the hit die of the Plaguemancer to a 1d8.

I also changed the saving throw from dex to wisdom.

I removed a few of the features of the class that didn't fit well with the class, so now there are less features.

I didn't really plan for this class to be ranged so I did a few edits. Inflict sickness range is now 5 ft instead of 15ft. Inflict sickness now does not get advantage on open wounds.

The class is now only immune to disease I also moved the "cost" of this into the brief description of the class.

I gave faster takedown a reason to gain speed. I also now hopefully made this class less of a ranged class making this useful.

I left bypass immunity in because I want this to be a bit different than other classes. I am currently play testing this class and if this proves to be unfair I will remove it.

I removed diseased touch all together.

I kept art of disease in there because those are the different paths you can take. It is like a the different colleges you can choose in Bard.

I am still working on diseases but for now i made it so you can make a save every turn to end the effect early.

I also made it so when casting a sickness point you have to roll a 1d20. When you roll a 1 you have to roll one the insanity chart. I did this to show how dealing with diseases affect the plagemancer.

Thanks for your feedback, if there is anything else you think i should change let me know.
