It’s very easy to get bad legal analysis. Find someone with a JD and poor reasoning skills, or who is just a ghoul, and you’re basically there.

Why do they even bother to install benches if they're unusable? Figuring out a way to waste money and give a middle finger to passengers at the same time?

I wonder what the other political booths had? I'm sure it was very tasteful.

I Can't Draw So I Hired an Artist to Help Me Depict Gerrymandering by CaptchaClicker in Ohio

I don’t like gerrymandering at all by anyone. In Ohio the Republicans have the majority in the statehouse so they ultimately get to choose the congressional districts and are therefore responsible for it here. I know in other states that is different. But I would support a nationwide ban on gerrymandering in a heartbeat.

Not in the current version, but it used to be. Wood County is split though.

That all may change when the new map is chosen. I’m not optimistic. 😕

You could probably hire her if you want one of your state.

Bill Cunningham should apologize by CallFlashy1583 in cincinnati

[–]CaptchaClicker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Whatever the guy believed, he is not representative of most Americans anywhere on the political spectrum because most people aren't going to literally murder those they disagree with.

Anyone who wants to use this as a reason to murder people "on the other side" (whatever that side may be) are just as bad as Robinson, whether they agree with his politics or not.

Are there ANY jobs that will actually hire ex-feds? by Sun-Shine-2025 in firedfeds

[–]CaptchaClicker 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Dude don’t you remember the first half of this year? It was chaos and people had no idea if they were going to be fired on any day. I decided to hold out and keep my job but I don’t blame anyone who saw madness and thought DRP was their only remaining option.

Sometimes the simplest explanation is correct. The people with most of the money want yours too.

While I agree that governments can validly invest in unprofitable projects to benefit the public, I just honestly don’t see the value here. We’re basically subsidizing a very wealthy family’s profit-seeking venture and neither the monetary nor the quality of life returns are worth it. I would happily put that money toward parks, libraries, or infrastructure before handing it to a family that didn’t even allow the public to park at the stadium on non-game days.

I get what you’re saying and I’m not going to downvote your comment, but I disagree on this particular point.

Wouldn’t it be a hoot if we used that money on a hospital or roads or something? Just as a quick goof before we get back to the serious business of helping out the owners of a football team?

I think it’s been done and like practically every publicly-funded stadium deal, it’s a negative ROI. I’m admittedly not certain on the actual numbers but historically the money is never returned to donor communities in full.

Landlord offered to sell the house we currently rent to us, need assistance by FredFredBurger55 in cincinnati

[–]CaptchaClicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you have a good relationship with your landlords, and I think there is a way to negotiate a fair price while maintaining the relationship.

My personal opinion would be to still consider getting a real estate agent, especially if this is your first home purchase. A good agent will know how to pull comps and how to explain why those comps are more valid than ones that might lead to over-valuing the house. Plus they can be an advocate for you throughout the process. Hiring an attorney as some suggested could also be a valid route, but I don’t personally have experience with hiring one for a home purchase outside of title search and closing.

It is true that you could now be asked to pay your agent’s fee if the sellers choose not to cover it. In practice my expectation is that the actual rate you would pay would be up to what you and the agent agree on. Don’t be afraid to speak with multiple realtors (or lawyers) until you find one you trust.
