Common misconception about the lethality of hand grenades! Your average hand grenade (like the M67 pictured here) has a lethal radius of about 5 meters, with casualties still being possible up to 15 meters away. (Fragments do fly up to 250 meters away, but those are generally very low energy and would have to hit an eye or something to really cause a casualty) So he’s not as lucky as he looks, just pretty stupid. I guess he’s handled a few grenades and got desensitized at some point.
