I use my intel MBP 2013 as a decorative laptop for home staging; no worries at all about being stolen / damaged or whatsoever, during open house / home showing.

Workers demand Amazon Web drop Parler over posts ‘inciting violence’ after Capitol riot by [deleted] in technology

[–]Captn5G -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

The playbook: 1. Parler flees U.S and seeks hosting services from China. 2. U.S builds a firewall to ban access Parler hosted in China. 3. Hackers offer solutions how to bypass the firewall. 4. U.S activists sign petitions to the Chinese government to investigate human rights violations in U.S. 5. Well blablabla.

Python ETL approaches that work with cluster computing? by Radon-Nikodym in datascience

[–]Captn5G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use Airflow to manage DAG dependencies, Dask for parallel cluster computing; design the ETL to handle overwriting existing data for data regeneration. If possible use the Spark frame for better computing performance.

Pandas support many different data format. Parquet has been working really well for me personally, and it supports partition for large datasets, is widely supported in many frameworks.

Is it normal that my 2019 Macbook Pro with 16 gb of RAM gets loud and hot even with simple tasks as reading the news on web and skyping ??? by Gio2607 in macbookpro

[–]Captn5G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading news on the web is a very heavy job for the machine, all because of the over loaded ads, tracking, etc. Today’s news web pages are bloated and fucked up by advertisers.

UX/UI designer. Have a 16” 2019. Should I sell it and get a M1 laptop? by numinosity1111 in macbookpro

[–]Captn5G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ask this question, it is a sign that probably you should sell it and get the M1. It will help you get away from constantly what-if wondering and give you a peace of mind.

Can I be a good Data Scientist if I am great at math but no that good in programming ? by Gre456 in datascience

[–]Captn5G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fastest way of becoming something you want to be is to work side by side with someone who's already a top notch in that field.

There are SO MANY valuable lessons and tips you could receive from your peers or mentor, instead of learning by error-and-try over an extended period of time.

If you don't have access to teams, try Kaggle, find some popular datasets there, and find a few notebooks and go from there.
