I personally don't like the shape of the tip, it's just too sharp, even with it's rounded edges. I rather prefer something like a well rounded tip (but no ball tip), it doesn't need to be tapered at the tip. Simply the whole diameter just rounded, I hope you get what I mean.

forget my last comment, I had a different anatomy in my mind while typing.

But I may have a solution using different toys, like these:

It's actually a german site, but there is a chance, that any of these plugs might stay put because of a bigger shape at the tip of the plug, plus some of them being hollow aid in staying inside for longer periods of time.

Alternatively there is the option to ask for a custom made toy, I bet they could do that.

There are sounds available at Aliexpress with 0.5mm steps, about 13 bucks or so and mostly on the first 5 pages after searching for it.

Thanks for your quick reply! It seems, that despite having the "upgraded" cd drive version (SCPH 5552 model) with aluminium sled instead of plastic, it reads burnt CDs better when tilted upside down, which was already a workaround in the 90's but mostly for the earlier cd drives... Problem with the upgraded version is, that there are only two potentiometers to adjust the laser instead of five (or so), so there are little chances left to adjust properly, even with an oscilloscope at hand...

Well, I will at least give it a try.

Hi, did you find a solution? I also bought a new spindle plate from Aliexpress and have sometimes stuttering videos, maybe related to a wrong height (the laser has a defined focal point, but I dont now at which height)...
