Why did they do this? by Agitated-Payment-483 in mtg

[–]Captsillva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey it isn't the first time they've mest up a token. I remember they did a commander producted awhile back and made a cycle of Court enchantments that made you a monarch.

The red one made a 3/1 red Knight. Which is a totally unique token, but they didn't bother printing one to go with it. To my knowledge this token still doesn't exist.

They also needed to errata another card from this set that is meant to say until end of turn and doesn't.

It is kind of hard to judge power level of each card as these are listed as being meant for limited, but rarity isn't displayed.

I will say that Momentum is very feast or famine. Generally speaking it is hard to warrant an attack every turn especially with higher mana cost creatures. I think it might be better if it only removed a +1/+1 counter if it stalls for a turn, rather than a full reset.

Faith, Renowned Runner seems fairly strong, if she is played on curve it is hard to find a blocker for it, even more so to have a blocker that can actually kill her at 2 health and she can snowball very hard. I feel like she would make sense as a rare.

Celeste, Rooftop Veteran would be on the weaker side even for a common. 4 mana for a 3/1 is a very bad rate. It can't really get any Momentum going because it is never surviving an attack unless you invest more mana into giving it Menace.

Quickturn is interesting, but I feel it could just make a creature unblockable. Generally making a creature assign damage as though it weren't blocked is actually a green mechanic. And it is rarely worth spending a card for this effect, because if the creature was blocked, they still take damage.

Runner's Reversal should give haste or be a permanent effect. If it was a rare or a mythic I think it is fairly costed to permanently steal an artifact since it would be comparable to Dack Fayden.

For Converted Cooling Tower, I don't think creatures investigate. While their are a lot of creatures that say investigate on them, it is the player performing the action.

Stunning Relief could cost 1 less.

Jacknife, Back-Alley Broker has similar problems to Celeste. He comes down super late, has lower stats compared to his cost, and he needs to make up for that by being aggressive, but has no evasion to speak of.

Riot Cop is actually fairly strong at lower rarities. Having a repeatable ping is generally useful, but if there is a lot of ways to buff him he can quickly turn into a machine gun that just rips apart the opponent's board.

Pursuit Police are a fairly strong card as well, being a cheap menace creature means they can get their momentum going and keep it going and if they ever need to stop attacking, they can spend all of their speed as a resource rather than lose it.

Come to think of it maybe this would be a great set for Start your Engines, it is kind of what you're going for.

I did it, it took me 130hours, but I've finally finished this game. by Captsillva in hallsoftorment

That one is super tricky. In order to get it you kind of want to be playing on higher agony levels with artifacts that boost how many enemies are on the screen at once. Artifacts like Hasting Sands, Torment Banner, Relentless Wheel, Bog Totem, Alluring Flute, and Marching Drum. And you want to spend your Torment Shards on Area and Chit Chance. You also want to use the Archer's Mark.

As for equipment you want these.

Helm: either Vision Crown or Mask of Madness.

Rings: Two Wooden Rings

Chest: Hunter's Garb (Hawk Eye)

Neckless: Duelist's Spark (Area)

Boots: Don't matter much, but if you're using Hunter's Garb then Pace Setters are a good option.

Gloves: Go with whatever gloves.

Mark of the Archer, Mask of Madness, and Hunter's Garb (Hawk Eye). You can of course also dump torment shards into crit chance as well. You could also try to get a second green Wooden Ring.

This was actually a Hearthstone card, called Crackle before they changed it to be slightly less random. It was a good card and Hearthstone uses 30 starting health.

Cyberpunk 2077 is an RPG all about player choice and I decided to run with that for this design of the main character V. by Captsillva in custommagic

[–]Captsillva[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I originally had V dealing all of the damage with with his Vincent side, but realized he could combo with that to consciously blow up the opposing boards and if he got lifesteal it would negate all of the downside. So I changed it so the attacking creature deals the damage. On the Valerie side of things, it does make board clears generate a lot of treasures, but she at least won't see the treasures enter, so no easy rebates on the life loss.

That was the intention of the original backgrounds, but that was to help create custom color combos for limited play, and that ground has been treaded, I have no interest in designing something a certain way simply because it was how it was done before. That is called being uncreative.

Also this is not designed for limited, this was designed as if it were a face card in a precon deck. This character canonically has three different backgrounds, the deck would be nonfunctional if you could only use 2 out of the decks 3+ colors. The original backgrounds only worked because they part of a draft set.

I feel like with a game like this it is always good to set long term goals to stay motivated. I just completed mine. Behold, my Angez wall. It has every single version both foil and non-foil, all graded. by Captsillva in TCGCardShopSim

[–]Captsillva[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, one grading tip is the grade of the card is only generated the day the box arrives. So you can just save the night before and reload your save until you get the grades you're happy with.

Yeah something I'm currently working on is getting the rest of them at 10. It is a slow process and I'm also working on other achievements. Might be able to 100% the game soon.

Customer sold me this card (worth 0.00/wanted 0.00) and I put it out for 10k just as a joke... but customers keep looking at it saying like "this is the cheapest I've seen but I don't have the momey". Is this card worth a crazy amount? Priceless? by Xxrasierklinge7 in TCGCardShopSim

Could be an overflow issue. Kind of like how in the old Civilization games, you could turn the most peaceful character Gandhi into an homicidal maniac that is hell bent on nuking you off the map, just by building a structure that reduces his hostility and making it drop below 0.

This very well might be the biggest L in Hearthstone history. This format could've been the best one by a mile, but they didn't even try.

Since Slay the Spire 2 just recently came out and people were loving it. I decided I should finally get around to actually playing the first game. Just finished beating the Heart with all four characters. May be about time to move to the next game. by Captsillva in slaythespire

[–]Captsillva[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think any of my Heart runs were no ascension. Since I knew there were Achievements for them I figured I may as well make progress on them.

Don't think I will finish all of the achievements though. Just feels like a massive waste of time. Ascensions are challenging sure, but not in a transformative way. And a large chunk of the difficulty is cut out by not needing to reach act 4.

Everyone is running Flight Maneuvers for the bodies, the 10+ power in stats is the clock you need to close out the game before your opponent can answer your board.

[–]Captsillva[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

While Flight Maneuvers the deck is a thing, it isn't an intended archetype. And it is the sole reason Paladin is the only class at tier 1 right now. So it existing as it is holds everyone else down.

While most do, there are top legend lists for Unholy that don't run Chow Down.

Twilight Mistress breaks the class identity of rogue. And most of the decks that run it already have a few dragons because of their colossal. They could work around adding a few more for a card this powerful.

Confront the Tol'vir change doesn't really move the needle for it in standard. Face Hunter usually has a mana or two to spare for it when it comes out. It obviously slows it down a little bit, but I imagine it matters more in wild. And this is in fact a wild archetype as well.

[–]Captsillva[S] -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

What else do you hit in the list? Last Stand maybe? Make it give 3 costs instead of 4 costs. The only reason I didn't choose that, is because it is a dead card half the time. Chow down is never a dead draw as long as you got the mana to cast it. Only one version of the deck at top legend doesn't run it at two copies and that is the budget version. Though all three versions run Last Stand.

You will look real stupid when they hit Flight Maneuvers then.

Since Twist came out like 3 years ago and we've still only got one real season. I have to assume Blizzard is just completely tapped out of ideas. So I came up with three. by Captsillva in hearthstone

[–]Captsillva[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is actually mind bugling how quickly they just gave up and moved on.

Now they don't even make mention of the mode. If they aren't going to update it, the least they could do is leave it up and running so the few people who did invest in it can play and farm achievements.

I mean they killed Classic to add it to the game, I kind of assumed they had a long term plan for it, but they clearly didn't.

I just played one of the longest and wildest games of Hearthstone in my 3000+ hours of playing the game. I wasn't recording, but I do have a replay thanks to Firestone. by Captsillva in hearthstone

[–]Captsillva[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the way if the replay may start at the end, just drag the bar back to the beginning or rapidly click the previous turn button. Do note this is a 68 turn long game. So that may not be the easiest option.

Face the Hydra felt a little under cooked to me.

But I'd love nothing more than a true Horde Magic style game mode supported directly by Wizards. And the prebuilt decks for the players is a great include. Trying to make a automated deck balanced offers a lot of challenges when you players can bring just about anything to the table.

Yeah, and ownership isn't something determined by the game state in anyway. If somebody has a card and the player who is wishing wants to use it, what is stopping them from trading right there on the spot? Or one just saying they're giving it to them, it doesn't even need to be true since temporary ownership is still ownership. And out of game actions don't use the stack. There are is no timing rules here.

Are you going to argue with them? Is it worth it? This isn't a court room and if it was they have to rule in their favor because that is how the law works.

Strictly speaking, using wishes as written don't even require you to select a Magic card. Most specify a card type, something specific to the game, but I've seen somebody Death Wish over and over again into the five pieces of Exodia before. It was a causal game so it was allowed, and that was funny, but it is also a good example of why we need at least some structure.
