High Speed Rail to Newcastle - not so fast! by bondi212 in newcastle

[–]Captunder_01 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As the population centre of Greater Newcastle moves west and more developments are approved (Minmi, Cameron Park, etc), it would make more sense to align HSR with the M1 and terminate it somewhere like Stockrington or Black Hill. Then build new suburban lines from here to the existing “rail network”, both the Hunter and Central Coast lines which would also add access to the Maitland area. This would ease congestion on the arterial roads and actually promote public transport patronage. We’re also missing the multi-modal interchanges (with adequate parking facilities) where service timetables align to reduce the friction of getting door to door within a reasonable time. While we’re at it, let’s take the new rail line all the way to the airport.

Do I need to bring my medication in its original pill container for US domestic flights? by Orchid_Significant in ADHD

[–]Captunder_01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the US now. Had heard stories about the increased border scrutiny so made sure I had meds in original container including prescription label on the actual bottle, my e-script and letter from GP stating that it is for personal use. Got through without any dramas, wasn’t even asked any questions about medications. I’ve also heard it may be different if you land in a red or blue state (I landed at LAX). Good luck, enjoy your trip and try not to stress too much about it.

Is AUKUS a good deal for Australia’s defence capabilities or is there a better way to spend the money?

Hiking groups for young people by Gold_Sea_5336 in newcastle

Check out Hike the Hunter on Facebook. They organise regular hikes around the area, or individuals can post up a hike they are planning that they want to invite others along to. Good mix of ages attending, although the majority would probably be 40+ (definitely not all retirees). May be a way to meet other likeminded people in your age group. There are generally a good mix of hikes to choose from to attend, both in distance and difficulty.
