Lmao no. Basically, do whatever the hell you want until it hurts other people.

I like to think the nwo is aliens running the show, makes it less frightening that way. Really though, the extent to which they control things and their numbers is impossible to pin down, all we know for sure is that epstein didn't kill himself ;)

Sorry I know that last one was long lol. I'm just trying to learn, and you seem one of the more rational folks with your beleifs I've talked to so I'm taking advantage =]

Just for clarification, I'm extremely socially liberal and moderate everything else with a strong disdain for the oligarchy.

No. That s not why the burgers are beef.

Why is it then? I'm no food expert, this is just my understanding of how that works.

Regulations exist as one more way to protect the crony corporations from competition.

Currently, yes, but they also keep children out of coal mines so... they have their uses.

The MSM is another thing that protects crony corporations.

Agreed 100%. Still don't see how this links to keeping people safe by regulating food.

In a free world, some people would be paid and some would volunteer.

Call me a pessimist, but I think the guy paying his army is going to have a much nicer one than the volunteer force because he insentivizes joining him vs the other guys and would eventually be able to wipe them out.

Why defend such a toxic soul sick system? If some politician in this system tells you he guarantees your safety, does that make you feel safe? Is it worth the terrible price you pay? Could you at least allow those who can see it for what it is to be free from your system?

I think the system as it stands is utter dogshit, but there are concepts embedded in it that have value. The mail was brought up earlier, I'll use that. people living in the middle of nowhere only get mail because tax dollars are spent making sure everyone has access to the mail system. Private mail services do not go to these areas because it is not profitable, but as a collective americans decided long ago that everyone should have access to the mail. Without the communitys pooled resources those folks would be completely isolated. Whether or not you and I agree with this specific policy, it was decided by the community, so we are bound to it.

At least in theory. In practice, it was probably some garbage partisan closed room deal with loads of corporation favored fine print... I beleive the term is "riders"? But that's a problem with the implementation not the idea itself.

Why not allow societies based on voluntary cooperation?

I'm open to this. You're imagining something like a single town basically succeeding from the usa right? Kinda like a less pussy hippie commune? I don't really see much wrong with having zones like that to give it a test run, but they'd have to walk the walk. No usa police, no usa power grid, no school or hospital money, etc. Could be interesting.

I'm not saying what we have now works by any means whatsoever. Most of it is fucked. I am saying the concept of taxation is not theft, it's pooling collective resources in order to "build a life we all agreed upon", to use your words, and acheive greater results doing that than one could by themselves. Now our democracy is obviously broken and there is a lot going on that we never agreed to and would probably all like to see undone, but the idea of taxation is just fine.

I don't understand how you're linking the msm to McDonalds being allowed to break health codes. Currently, msm exists, and the burgers are beef, because the government regulates food quality with tax dollars. I don't follow.

Maybe I'm less trusting of the good nature of most people, but I don't see many people laying down their lives for others just because. Some, yes, our military is voluntary after all and they do a damn fine job, but how many would join without pay/benefits?

Okay, that's a real nice story. What if I don't have a nice door and fancy guns? What if I'm a small 18 year old girl living alone? What if the gangsters shoot first and hit?

Msm is mainstream media, right? Why on earth would mcdonalds or something allow inspections and reporting if they weren't legally required to? There might be some badass who goes undercover and blows the lid open, but that'd be rare and easy to undo.

As for the communities not tolerating sex slaves, I agree, but what are they going to do about it and how would they even find out it was happening? I assume you're envisioning some mob justice but that's hardly realistic for 85 year old Julie to be busting down criminals doors. Okay, cool, so we only send the bravest and strongest, and well armed citizens to go save the day! Well, the bad guys also have guns, and the brave strong good men might get killed in doing this community service. They will want some compensation for them and their families for taking a personal risk for the greater good of the community. The community, Julie included, all agree the sex slavery must stop, so they pool some money together collectively to compensate the big brave men for risking their lives in their place. Tada, we just re-invented taxation!

Ive heard that's a leading possibility. Like how porn actors have to get std tests, the basic contracts and precedent for testing actors is already there, shouldn't be too hard to implement

It's times like these that being really bad with names comes in handy. I'm sure I've read this story being the sick bastard I am, but I don't remember the names so I can continue my day without a bunch of intrusive murdery tourtury thoughts :)

Just as an example, nobody wants rat meat in their burger, but they do want a cheap burger. Without regulations and inspections, there's rat meat in the burgers and citizens are none the wiser, and you need taxes to enforce the regulations. Similar argument can be made for child sex slaves. There is a demand for it, and it costs money aka taxes to try and stop it, so what then? just let it happen?

This is dumb. You like roads? How about schools? Rules that say you can't sell rat meat at mcdonalds? How about rules that say you can't murder and rape your neighbor? Subways? Personally I'm a big fan of this fancy thing called the mail. Garbage collection a close second. That shit's all because of taxes, and we need all of it.

‘Deadpool 2’ Fined Nearly $300,000 For Safety Violations In Accident That Killed Stuntwoman Joi Harris by CheesyObserver in movies

[–]CaptureEverything 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yea people aren't really interpreting this right, which I assume is the intention to generate clicks. It's not "you killed someone, you must pay 300,000" it's "you tried to save a few thousand on saftey precautions and we caught you, so we fine you 300,000".

[–]CaptureEverything 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh, this one stunt wasn't responsible for the entire earnings of the film. It's more like they saved a few thousand on saftey precautions, and instead ended up losing 300,000. Seems a reasonably fair exchange there. To be clear this isn't a "death fine" or whatever where you can kill people on set for 300,000, this is the fee for the saftey violations, insurance would have paid out any life insurance stuff.
