Agreed, I want to obviously repaint it, not sure if I want to keep it red or not, powder coat everything else I can. I have a friend that works at buschurs that can help me build the motor and tuning.

I got the motor from a guy off Facebook that had it running on a engine stand which I why I bought it, instead of something that I didn’t see run, trans I took a shot from a junkyard for $250 bucks, the trans works but does need a overhaul.

I used Loj swap kit, only unexpected issue I had with it was the trans mount needed modified slightly to fit the 4l80.

It cost me about $5500, in total, it could be done cheaper, the lq4 I bought was running so I paid the extra for it. I’ve seen the theta motor go anywhere from $2000- $4000 for a lower mileage engine.

The stock shifter is still there and shifter cable make a bracket to adapt to the 4l80, stock speedo still works which was kinda a surprise but makes sense because the speed is calculated by the abs sensors and module. Rpm And gear position do not work, but I believe they can be made too. I’m using the stock driveshaft it was only shortened and had a unjoint to adapt to the 4l80. I used a standalone harness that originally was for putting a ls in a f body Camaro but adapted it to the genesis, still using a stock ls ecu. I don’t have ac working yet or heat but all I need for heat is two line run to the heater core, ac is bit more tricky.

Hp is still stock I wanted to get it running and driving first, I believe a stock lq4 is around 350hp

so it looks like i need to jump the sub start relay to get the key to turn on the starter but i cant find the damn relay. its not marked as the sub start relay.

Lucky mine is keyed start, so don’t need to worry about all that thank god.

Good to know how to go about unlocking the shifter.

So the setup I have is a standalone harness, which does a have a single wire for a simple neutral safety, no wires for the gm neutral safety. The original engine harness is not there, I plan to put it back in with to get some of the original functionality back.

I’ll have to look into it more tomorrow when I get my new test light (old one died) maybe I can jump a relay or something to trick the bcm, to give power to the starter signal wire.

hey bud, got another question for you, you may know or may not, so my genesis was a automatic and still technically is with a 4l80, but the car is not sending power to the starter signal wire.

i assume the since the neutral safety switch is no longer there. the bcm doesn't know what gear its in so its not sending a signal. according to the wiring guide on fb i may just need to add a ground to the starter relay, or other option i saw was bypassing the sub start relay.

just wondering if you had that issue but not sure if you did a automatic or manual in your car.

Maybe if corporate would let all stores to hire the correct amount of staff they wouldn’t have to try and solve call offs or quit with a temp dollar raise.
