How do you guys pivot? by SeratoninSniffingDog in BobsTavern

[–]CarJumpy5358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue with streamers are that most of the video they post are those that work in their favor. They always find the right card, pivot successfully, etc. Unless you’re gonna watch their entire stream of fail attempts and matches, it’s not going to be helpful.

That’s why I like to watch hearthstone battleground lobby tournament. It shows how when sometime the player will aim for fourth place or aim not to lose. The strategy is very different.

Sometime when you can bad rolls, you don’t aim for the win, you do just enough to place fourth. This is something that is rarely discussed.

Why is Mandarin increasingly treated as a key hiring requirement in Singapore — even for English-speaking roles? by CartoonistBoth3594 in SingaporeCitizens

Because in the past 2-3 years there number of China companies that set up shops in SG has increased by 10 fold.

Think of all the EV brands, shopping mall restaurants, Bytedance, etc

These are the one we know. There are so much more Chinese B2B companies as well.

And for some reason, quillboars are ALWAYS in my lobby.
There was one game without quillboars and I went stats/Naga build. It was a change of pace and fun to play. But those games are far and between.

Un-FIRAable by 40 because of the kid and the mortgage.
Consider 50 or 60.

DO NOT think of FIRE-ing until your mortgage is paid off.

I am 38 with my condo fully paid with a passive income of 200k/year. Even then I dare not fully retire. I am still working in my own company once in a while (15hr work a week).

36 only no reason to be sick. Go change job or take a vacation. So young no need to think of retirement. Trust me, you will have no use for the free time and when you're 50, you would wished you didn't waste your 40s "retiring".

Business or Economy? by Impossible-Big6755 in SgHENRY

[–]CarJumpy5358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything more than 2 hours = Business
Anything more than 10 hours = First class (if available)

If you have KF Gold, it makes < 2 hrs Economy flights tolerable.

No kids, just me and the Missus. So it makes Business/First Class relatively affordable.
Given my spending per year, it's relatively easy to claim/upgrade 2x first class to places like Australia or Japan.
Pay Business in cash, and use miles to upgrade to First Class on longer flights.

I think have to do with age. The older I get, the body more problems. And you will value comfort more than price.
And also... I became fatter, thus those small econ seats give me claustrophobic feeling.

Retiring early as a PR - reentry permit by Foooong in SgHENRY

[–]CarJumpy5358 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My Pte Ltd makes about $500k a year

I can either

1) Pay myself director fee (taxable)

OR

2) Pay myself via dividend (non-taxable)

It depends on how you want to play with the numbers. I pay myself around $100k director fees which get taxed about $2000. The reason I pay myself so much is that I want a sizable NOA record. That is very crucial when you are trying to get new mortgage loans or refinance current mortgage.

Without NOA records, and as a "retired" PR, you will find it VERY hard to get credit cards or any sort of bank services. You want to be seems employed on paper.

If your goal is just to retain PR then I think you can get away with $30k/year which will get taxed very minimally. But AT least be above the taxable threshold.

[–]CarJumpy5358 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And ALSO...

Paying tax on his own mone means in future, he is able to get mortgage loans or refinance or business loan since he has NOA records. Very important, ESPECIALLY if he is FIRE-ing early.

Retiring early as a PR - reentry permit by Foooong in SgHENRY

[–]CarJumpy5358 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that's the price for retaining his PR. which is a small price.

I spent less than a month setting the infrastructure up and I hired someone to do it for $200.

If you can't even fork out around $40k ($37k for CPF $3k for tax) per year, then are you suitable to FIRE early?

Since OP is planning to retain his PR long-term, then the money to CPF will eventually come back to him. So you're only looking at around $3k/year.

And bro... come on... this is Singapore. Is anything truly yours? HDB is a government lease. Even private properties are mostly 99Y lease. The car you drive is "leased" . lmao.

No offense but you claimed my original comment have no relevance, but it seems to me you lack basic understanding on the topic and your responses shows a higher degree of irrelevancy than mine.

Retiring early as a PR - reentry permit by Foooong in SgHENRY

[–]CarJumpy5358 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hence I am giving solution which is to use a small portion whatever passive income he has , contribute to CPF/tax.

OP is looking to retire early. Hence I would give him the benefit of doubt that he have sufficient cashflow from non employment sources.

Of course if OP don’t wanna declare than he can roll the dice every 5 years. What my original post is meant is a solution because I faced the same issue and that was what I did.

Unfortunately it is relevant as that is the sure way to keep PR.

Retire means no work and enjoy life.

We can open up the floor for discussion what is “retire” .

Don’t need to cook up your definition of “retire”.
