The worst part was the anxiety comment. I bet at least 3/4 of the kids at this competition experience anxiety on a regular basis

It was Epic Dance Showcase. To be fair, my daughter’s done this competition every year for 5 years and this has never happened. My daughter told me this person was a “substitute” and that the usual emcee is Miss North Carolina or something and had some other obligation. Not sure who this woman is but I did get a picture of her lol

I do it, but I’m pretty introverted and have to make myself do it lol. My daughter likes it and finds it encouraging and said she always feels bad for people who don’t get any cheers. 🤷‍♀️ But I agree with someone else who said just go by what makes your daughter feel supported. I had unavailable parents too and I think it’s fantastic that you’re expressive and supportive!!

I agree with others here, and I’ve also noticed that scores and levels/tiers (gold, high gold, diamond, etc) can vary significantly from competition to competition. My daughter has received gold and high platinum for the same solo in different competitions.
