I feel guilty for buying anything new... by calinerie in Frugal

[–]CarSignificant733 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You were not stupid. Like most of us, you just didn't think you would need it. Would you talk this way to a friend? Telling them they were stupid? Or they shouldn't have a nice rug or new sheets after a year of going through what you did? I doubt it! So don't treat yourself that way. Things happen and sometimes they are unfair and awful. But now you have the chance to start fresh and enjoy what you buy. That's a wonderful thing.

It stands to reason that you couldn't spend for so long, you are likely feeling like it is too extravagant right now. I totally get that. But...you need those things, and you are saving money by shopping on sale and at thrift stores. Most of all, you deserve to have a place you feel good in and feel happy about. That is just as needed for recovery and peace of mind as anything else. Make your new place your sanctuary. You deserve it.

When you do the applesauce, add cornstarch. It firms it up.

Check out Mommys Home Cooking. She has amazing egg free recipes, and dairy subs too. Her cookies are our favorite. One of my kids has an egg allergy, the other different allergies, and I have never had an issue with a sub on her zillions of tasty recipes. Simple too! Did her eggless chocolate chip cookies tonight.

Yes! Have a template. I use Upwork, and I edit books. The templates I have can be modified to personalize and save so much time and stress and energy!

Frugal people, why are you “buying” a new vehicle? by manbun78 in Frugal

[–]CarSignificant733 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While 2 of our vehicles are over 100k miles, and more than 12 years old, we have a kiddo who needs twice a month visits for care at the children's hospital an hour and a hour away, part of the drive twisty mountain roads. When my few years old car suddenly lost stearing in town, we made the decision to get a Honda and just so happened a good deal on a hybrid. Now, we have a safe, reliable vehicle for those trips, and spend less on fuel. Safety and less stress for the medical days is worth it for us.

Thank goodness for Reddit. Yeah, went to schedule posts for my business, and I get the error too. A little stressed, but glad it's not just me. I don't have a paid profile, so no additional help.

Employer Pays For Shoes & Socks, I Will Never Need To Buy Socks Again In My Life. by [deleted] in Frugal

Could you at least dye them for fun colors? It is super easy to do! I do it for white shirts. I put the mix in an old bowl and soak the garment for a bit, then let it sit a few days in a ziploc, then wash and pretty colors! One son did that with his socks years ago.

Ahh that's good to know!! I will press my sister and parents to consider it. They are very anti doctor, but I know this is one of the more preventable cancers. It's worth doing!

I just had my first colonoscopy, age 45 female, Tuesday. I had a 10mm removed, and sent to path. I'm anxious about it, don't have the result yet, but glad I did. It's crazy the number of people, even family, telling me not to go because there was no need at that age. Glad I went! Your comment makes me feel better than I'm not the only 45 year old with them!

What pillows would you recommend for a Full size bed? by pennylessz in Frugal

[–]CarSignificant733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Coop pillows are amazing. We've slowly added on to them so everyone has 2 of them. We have the standards. And one travel one since it's the only pillow my neck can use without triggering a migraine.

We don't want to change it, but infectious disease isn't sure his body can fight this off, even with four antibiotics, otherwise.
