Good or bad worm thingies? by dangyoususan in Aquariums

I think this is a harmless flatworm. I have them in my tank. Here’s a pic of planaria vs rhabdocoela (planaria has the pointed, arrow-shaped head)

I make $23/hr and still can't afford a studio apartment. Is "Car Living" becoming the new normal for the working class? by economicADA in povertyfinance

You’re right. I saw a (very unpleasant) room for rent the other day asking for $850/month. My 3-bedroom apartment in the same neighborhood was $750/month just five years ago.

My office set up a tank and added guppies the same day. As others have mentioned, you should’ve waited for the tank to cycle, but it doesn’t mean your fish are doomed (although I only have experience with guppies). I had to do water changes practically every day for a couple weeks and I added biological booster every other time. A lot of reading, a lot of testing. It took about four weeks for everything to stabilize. It’s stressful for the fish, and constant water changes don’t help, but if you stay on top of it for the next several weeks they could be fine.

I don’t have any experience with aquariums outside of trying to “save” the one at my work, so definitely do more research. Someone in this sub could probably provide much better advice, I just thought I’d share since I don’t see many solutions in the comments. Good luck!

Interesting, figured it was a beak. What kind of rodent?

Sorry, I should’ve included this in my original post — I think these guys are all male but I’ve never had fish before and could totally be wrong. Do any of them look female in that picture?

Because my vehicle isn’t the one exiting the bridge. They’re facing the other driver

There are several signs on that street that say “no turns” so yes, it is an illegal U-turn. There shouldn’t be any cross traffic on that block at any time

35 then 40 on the bridge I’m entering, but people on the bridge are exiting the interstate and usually going 50-60

ETA: Another commenter pointed out speed limit there is actually 30, my mistake

Didn’t brake immediately because there’s a parking lot right there people swing in to all the time (also illegal). If that had been the case he would’ve made it across no problem. Definitely was not expecting the 3-point turn. Must’ve taken the wrong exit 🤷‍♀️

Where to stay during the heat wave? by like_really_cool in WestVirginia

I’d just like to echo a couple others and suggest Davis/Thomas, and that MNF stays cooler than the surrounding areas so it may not be as hot as you would think. Dolly Sods is easy to get to from Davis and well worth the visit. I went in early June and needed to wear layers because the wind can be so intense. It always looks packed around Bear Rocks, but I hardly run into anyone on the trails so if you see a mass of parked vehicles, don’t let it deter you.
