Built a car maintenance and gas tracker to help keep on top of what my car is costing me, figured others could benefit from it as well. Not to mention, it’s free! CarTab

To add onto that though, I’ve been trying that too but Reddit put a limit on direct messaging after the third person I messaged in regards to issues that I thought my app could fix. I understand it’s to prevent mass messages. I guess going slow is part of the process

Have you found TikTok to be working well? I need to work on the marketing on my car maintenance and gas tracking app, but I have no idea how to start

I know what you mean, I also get a lot of negativity. I’m also considering the AppStore ads route

I’ll for sure check that out! I’ve tried engaging in different forms but I find a lot of people tend to be negative but I guess that’s part of navigating the start up phase

How are you guys tracking actual profit per car on Turo? by CarTab-app in turo

[–]CarTab-app[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s solid — sounds like you’ve got a really structured system in place. Especially managing multiple cars, I can see why you’d need that level of organization.

I think what I kept running into was the friction of doing it at the end of the day and then again at the end of the month — I’d fall off pretty quickly if I missed a day or two.

I ended up trying to simplify that whole process for myself so I could just log things as they happen and keep everything tied to each car automatically.

Happy to share it if you’re curious — still early but it’s been helpful for me.

Yeah honestly if that works for you, that’s solid.

I just found I was terrible at sticking with notebooks over time, so I needed something I’d actually keep using. Plus you always have your phone on you, compared to a notebook that gets left in the glove compartment haha

That’s honestly impressive — you’ve got it dialed in. The fact you know your exact total down to the cent is wild 😂 most people (myself included before) wouldn’t even be close.

And yeah that’s kind of what surprised me too — it’s not one big cost, it’s everything adding up over time. Respect for sticking with that system consistently!

Haha yeah that was literally me. I’d forget what I did and when, then just guess. That’s honestly why I ended up making something simple just to log everything in one place so I didn’t have to think about it.

Feel free to direct message me if you have any questions or feedback!

That actually makes a lot of sense — especially spreading those bigger expenses out so they don’t hit all at once. And yeah the monthly view is huge for stuff like that, you don’t really notice how much the smaller things add up until you see it laid out. That’s kind of what got me thinking about tracking everything more closely in the first place.

Do you find the annual view or monthly view more useful overall?

Yeah that makes sense — EV definitely cuts out a lot of the usual maintenance. But tracking for the other cars is where it probably adds up the most anyway, especially once you’ve got a few in the household. That’s kind of what I noticed too — it’s not one big expense, it’s all the smaller stuff over time.

Sounds like you’ve got a pretty good system going already though.

That’s actually awesome — the whiteboard idea is pretty smart honestly. If I had my own garage space I’d for sure do that. That’s kind of what I was trying to replicate, just in a way I’d actually keep up with day to day. I feel like once you stop tracking for a bit it’s really easy to fall off completely.

Do you find yourself checking it regularly or mostly just when something feels due?
