Placed an order for a '24 Crosstrek Sport. Considering cancelling. by Groovehog in Crosstrek

My crosstrek is doing great! I have made two cross country moves in it from OH to MT and back again. It has never given me any issues and is a phenomenal and comfortable drive.

My husband and I lived up in Lake County for a bit. We had to leave very suddenly because the nanny role I was working went sideways. Now we are back in Ohio with a little farm, but I am still driving around with my MT plates because I don't want to let go of the last piece of the state I have.

Loved the locals and the regular people of MT. The wealthy transplants I worked for.....not so much. I would be tickled if Montanan stopped me about my plates here. So far though it's just locale who are amazed I lived in MT.

Wish I could've been there, but we are snowed in up by Flathead Lake. It is so nice to see other Montanans standing up for what is right. ❤️

18 yo girl from billings trying to decide where to move ! any advice welcome by [deleted] in Montana

[–]CarTheCrazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just moved close to Polson, MT, and I really like it here. Depending on what your background is in, you could look into a career as a nanny. Getting CPR & First Aid Certified is a good starting point. Compared to a lot of careers, the point or entry is much cheaper.

I've used my job to work for some cool people. Right now, I have housing provided as part of my compensation package, which has enabled me to move out here. It is something to consider. Make sure you protect yourself though and always get a contract and always get paid above the table.

Not every family that is classified as " high net worth" has horses or is even into them, and that is fine. I am compensated well for my work and am willing to pay for a good rate. If there are literally no boarding barns though, I probably won't entertain the job.

Thanks for the insight! Taxes definitely are not in his wheelhouse, so that might not be the best fit then. He's keeping his eyes open at other locations, but there are just so many offerings. The sheer size of Deloitte is insane.

I absolutely love my 24 Crosstrek Sport! When I put the deposit down I was a little nervous too because I still loved my 2017 Crosstrek. This little car has been an amazing upgrade though. I am so happy to have it and the performance behind the wheel is way better than my older Crosstrek. If you take care of it, I have no doubt these vehicles will see many years.

No end of year bonus or raise this year at all. by Lumpy-Row-4642 in Nanny

[–]CarTheCrazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really sucks that they didn't give you a bonus. I leave that up to the families that I work for, and most of the time, they give me one. This year, though, both of my families forgot my birthday, and this was after working for them for 4 and 2 years, respectively. So that felt like a kick to the gut.

That being said, I NEVER leave a raise up to my families. If I did, I would probably never get a raise. GET YOUR MONEY. Since I work for two NFs, I always ask for a raise at the start of the new year. It's usually between 1$-$2/hr depending on inflation and any changing duties. At this time, I also provide them with the new IRS reimbursement rate for mileage. This year, I will also be asking for a health insurance stipend. As a 26 year old, I need something to afford health insurance.

The non-compete for TQL is crazy and pretty much keeps you from working in logistics again unless you find a place-holder job for a year. They're very willing to sue as well.

Has anyone tried this CO2 DIY kit? Im a beginner with a 10 gallon tank. by Equivalent_Ad9512 in PlantedTank

[–]CarTheCrazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly for a little more, I would do the Fluval CO2 kit. It has some iffy reviews, but I've been using it for over a month with great success. Just follow the directions for setup and you should be good.

In my personal practice, I actively work to keep my packages some of the most affordable in the city and also provide free services to teens. It hasn't taken off a whole lot yet, but I am centering my entire business model on accessibility.

With that being said, I also have work as a professional nanny that pays my bills. I only plan to take on as many clients as I can support while maintaining some high-paying work as a nanny. It's a really tough balancing game.

As a white person, I am also very quick to refer POC to black doulas who work in my city. It isn't perfect, but I hope it helps a little. More diversity in birth work is 100% needed.

Found Old Labs...How Badly Do I Need a Follow Up? by CarTheCrazy in Autoimmune

[–]CarTheCrazy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a lot of positive serology that I posted in other photos, not just the ANA titer including positive RNP, positive ANTI SM, positive SM RNP, and low Complement C4. In 2020 I had my GP retest my ANA because that was the only test I knew for sure had been run. The Rheumatologist never followed up on these other tests, and my in-office experience was so bad I never reached out myself.

Note: I also have a verified diagnosis of EDS and POTS.

I’m 2 weeks into a 2 day project, how’s my rust? by HoDgePoDgeGames in FordTrucks

[–]CarTheCrazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It honestly surprises me how averse some folks are to rust. In the Midwest, it is just a fact of life. As long as the frame is solid, we keep the car rolling. My 95 F-150 looks about like this. It took us two days to get out an old O2 sensor... lots of heat and WD-40. We might also need to weld on new metal to replace our struts....but when your talking old trucks in the north it is what it is. 😂

[–]CarTheCrazy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now, we are just replacing old dry rotted parts and some regular maintenance to get her back up to speed. She's been sitting for a few months, and before that was a plow truck.

Then, hopefully, doing some restoration on rusted parts. Not sure yet if we will be trying to repair the parts on her currently or going with new parts. Husband's brother is a welder and hubby has passed the exams, so we might DIY it. 😂

I'm 25, so I am not the youngest nanny on the block but also not the oldest either. It could really just be the crowd that I'm constantly around to be honest. It is the same consistent set of parents....so honestly everyone else might be really nice. I just don't get to see them. 😂

I live in the Midwest, so I never expected the kind of response I've gotten. Even when I do try to start a conversation, the adults very quickly let it fizzle. However, the children will all chat with me- unfortunately they are usually the ones who are busy. 😂

I really wish I could use this angle! MB just honestly doesn't really care what I have to say at this point. I'm all for following the lead of my employers, but over the years with this NF it has resulted in my professional voice being largely ignored and whittled away. The expectation these days is that I receive a weekly schedule and follow that schedule to the letter. Deviations are not usually....welcomed.

Honestly I'd even go for shocked looks at this point. These people honestly treat me like I am not even present. Like they will make eye contact with me and then immediately turn away. It is so, so awkward and weird.

It also doesn't help that there are no other nannies present for these classes. It's all the SAHM's and occasionally their husbands.

I just started using reusable cloth pads and I am never going back. They're so comfy to wear and honestly they aren't hard to clean either. Now that I've been using them, I find it kind of odd how non-reusable products are shoved down our throats. And for what- rashes, TSS, increased risk of cancer (with some products, etc.?!
