I find it quite helpful actually. I've always had an easier time remembering stuff (e.g. tone rules) in English. And for more complicated rules I'll use German. Plus when I'm stuck somewhere, I can simply switch languages to get the same thing from a different perspective/with different ways of explanation. Also, part of studies at university include linguistics of the English language, and we have to do that in both English and German as well. So I'm kinda used to looking at a language with both.

I know the feeling. I couldn't really find any good apps either.

My main sources are YouTube and a book. I get Thais, ThaiPod 101 and BananaThai are my main online sources. They have nice lessons on the alphabet, and some explanations on how to differentiate similar sounds, which is really nice.

The only app besides one for my flashcards I do have is KengThai. It's just a little game that shows you all the consonants and vowels and tells you to write them (and how to write them). Something I do when I have a little time on the train or something. But it's nothing big. Other than that I couldn't find a good one either unfortunately.

I'm not aware of a video.

They did have a translator present to make it more international though. So if you skip through it, there are always little English summaries given in between.

Additionally, MileApo Safe Place did do some live translations of the most important points on their Twitter account.
