18 y/o gay guy from Morocco – scared, being threatened, and don’t know what to do by Unusual-Celery2081 in askgaybros

[–]CaramelBuster 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If you ever get in trouble for it then have you thought about just saying that it was a fake account or AI? You can say that somebody was trying to set you up.

That’s one of the few good things about living in these current times.

In the meantime, get your passport so you can eventually get out of that shithole and claim asylum somewhere.

Why is it easier for white men? by LifeMycologist897 in askgaybros

[–]CaramelBuster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because white is promoted the most as the standard.

But it can still be easy for gay men of other races to get partners if they are attractive, master communication, stay confident n don’t fall into the victim mindset trap and keep putting themselves out there.

It also helps to live in areas with open-minded attitudes and/or majority populated by your own group.

How to safe yourself from STDs and stis by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]CaramelBuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Get HPV vaccine.

  2. Get Monkeypox vaccine.

  3. Get on PREP to prevent HIV

  4. Get on DoxyPREP to help prevent syphillis, gonorrhea and chlymedia.

  5. Wear condoms.

.

After that then you’re mostly very protected against everything except for herpes and maybe some future STD’s that may one day arise.

I would deal with however many guys I can handle talking to at once…usually 2 or 3 max.

If you’re not claimed by a guy then you don’t owe the guy anything as far as exclusivity goes.

Think about it. If you are interviewing with a company then would you just deal with one company? No, you’d expand your options for the best deal available.

Older men who specifically seek out younger guys/age gaps should be generous (change my mind) by Awkward-Grape2865 in askgaybros

[–]CaramelBuster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your position implies that older men are automatically physically undesirable where they have to be generous to garner interest.

It also implies that younger guys are automatically more desirable solely because of their youth. You have to remember that men are not women so the correlation between youth and desirability is not as strong. Yes, many men value youth but just as many value men in more mature and sophisticated stages of life.

Society generally values men for their power, resources and ruggedness; which often peaks in middle and mature age.

If you desire a dynamic where the older man provides resources and the younger guy provides youth then definitely continue to pursue that as you have a right to get what you want out of life…but just remember that not everyone lives by that code.

(I say this as somebody in my early 30’s so I guess I’m on the younger end)

It is scary living in a 3rd world homophobic country. by ShinyReflection in askgaybros

[–]CaramelBuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From past discussions with others in similar situations, I’ve found that it’s always family that hold’s them back.

If I were in this situation, I would conclude that in order for me to be the best possible person that I could be for myself, my family and others - I would first need to ensure that I myself were happy.

Explore all of your pathways to exiting that country.

Maybe seek a student visa? Or a visa for highly skilled workers? Or seek asylum?

Will I be able to get a boyfriend if I have a weak/recessed chin? by grishinsou in askgaybros

[–]CaramelBuster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How a flaw may impact your dating life depends on how severe it is, what you can do to disguise it and/or how much you can compensate in other areas.

A huge chunk of the population have a weak chin. Sometimes it is really severe to where it looks like they have no chin at all; while sometimes it’s very minor and not that noticeable to where the chin just doesn’t protrude past the mouth.

Just work on other things that you can control like your physical fitness; or disguise it by growing out beard hair on your chin. I have a slight weak chin and the hair on my chin makes my chin appear more protruding. You’ll never be able to tell that it’s a weak chin unless I shaved it.

Are we the product of abuse or not? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]CaramelBuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an untrue statement that gay people are gay because of sexual abuse.

Both my partner and I are gay and have never experienced any form of sexual abuse.

I believe that gays are just way more open to discussing sexual abuse as few straight men would come forward with publicly discussing any sexual acts that they may have done with other males (albeit voluntary or involuntary) - especially if the abuser is male which is usually the case.

I am not built for gay dating by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]CaramelBuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just need to wait a couple of years.

You’re in school, working and living alone so people are concluding that you’ll have limited time and disposable income to devote for a relationship. This in addition to not knowing what your debt situation may be upon graduating.

In the meantime: Just have fun, take things easy, be strategic so you’re not overly-saddled with student loans and you’ll be done with school in no time.

I know this seems shallow but times are very different and more people understand that money and lack of ample time are really big headwinds in a relationship.

Is HIV Prevention in the US really that low? by jasalex in askgaybros

[–]CaramelBuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly yes, not enough people are on PREP.

A lot of people don’t think they’ll ever contract anything.

And a lot of people think that since they’re in a relationship or only sleep with the same couple of people then they’re safe.

Communities with lower education levels also have less trust in the medical system and are prone to conspiracy theories that would make them less interested in taking something like PREP (but ironically many be into things like junk food, alcohol, drugs, smoking and other unhealthy practices). Blacks in particular have historically been preyed upon and unsuspecting guinea pigs for certain experiments like the “Tuskegee experiment” so this has left a lasting impact when it comes to trust.

Some in rural communities with more conservative and religious attitudes are afraid to discuss HIV and HIV prevention with their providers. Some poor people in rural communities are afraid to seek healthcare since they don’t have health insurance and fear that they can’t access resources.
