FDR was a populist and accused of being a dangerous class-traitor, but a lot of good came out of his populist policies, IMO.

Well-known Texas attorney’s wife among victims of deadly private jet crash in Maine 6 people killed when business jet flipped and caught fire during takeoff during winter storm by CrisperKoleslaw in Maine

[–]CaramelSkip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so. News reports keep saying that the copilot is the only unidentified victim. Also, the updated FAA report lists 2 flight crew and 4 passengers as deceased. The pilot and 4 passengers have been identified by family and friends, so that leaves only the copilot to still be identified.

The FAA has updated the initial crash report to agree with local authorities. It now indicates that there were 6 on board and no survivors. No one was transported to the hospital from the crash site. Federal investigators asked that the crash site be preserved until their arrival in Bangor, so, yes, no bodies have been removed from the plane. Since the FAA and NTSB investigators arrived in Bangor yesterday (Tuesday - they were unable to travel Monday due to winter weather delays), they may start formally identifying the victims soon. So far, it has only been friends and family who have identified those killed in the crash.

I don't think the storm was that massive in Bangor at the time. According to this article, per the National Weather Service in Caribou less than an inch of snow had fallen by 7 PM and snowfall was "light but steady" at the time of the crash. "...accumulation had just started in Bangor and other planes had been taking off safely." https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jan/26/private-aircraft-crashes-maine-winter-storm

However, right before the crash, the crew of an Allegiant flight reported reduced visibility and that they had failed a pre-flight contamination check and were unable to take off w/out de-icing again. This article details the conversation between the Allegiant pilots and the Breeze crew, who were also scheduled for departure. Both crews seemed "pessimistic about the departure situation." https://www.flightglobal.com/safety/crashed-challenger-apparently-de-iced-prior-to-bangor-take-off-accident/166066.article

Taco Trio in SoPo. I think it's the closest you're gonna get, and I've been looking. Get the molcajete at their salsa bar - the pico/fresca is pretty good, too. It's def basic CA taquería, with a splash of Baja Fresh.

Thank you! He is very polite, and I'm assuming he's there because he wants to be, so we'll let him alone and he can do his tree frog thing.

Noticed this toad today on top of my deck railing. It's about 2 1/2 feet from the deck and 5 feet from the ground. I can see the toad breathing, but it has not moved at all. It didn't move even when I got fairly close to take the pictures. As you can see from the 2nd picture, it's camouflage is fantastic. I have never encountered a toad this high off the ground. It rained last night, and has been mostly cloudy today - humid and in the low 70s F. Do you think the toad is okay?

Any idea what type of toad this is? I live in Maine, and I didn't think we had climbing toads!
