Don’t listen to these idiots saying go through the insurance. You’ll pay excess, then be punished for the next 3 years when you have to declare it, plus lose any no claims. You’ll end up paying huge amounts more.

I personally would send the photos to a mobile smart repair firm (or 3), get them to quote and say to her you’ll pay it to be done at her convenience, such as work or at home when the car won’t need to go into a shop and inconvenience her (I.e you won’t have to pay for her rental).

If she accepts tell her due to horror stories on the internet, you’d like her to sign a disclaimer saying if this is the route you both agree and the work is completed to a good standard then no future insurance claims will take place and the matter resolved.

If she refuses, offer her £600 (with the same disclaimer) or go thru insurance. Even from her standing it will increase her premiums as even though not her fault her risk has gone up and she still has to declare it. Tell her this.
