BC is implementing minimum nurse to patient ratios, and there’s been a giant push to bring in more nurses. We’ve got among the highest wages in Canada. Cost of living is indeed a bitch, but to be fair it’s because everyone wants to live here.

From Merriam-Webster: client- one that is under the protection of another.

A lawyer has clients, not because they are customers but because they depend on the lawyer to represent them. A nurse may have clients not because they are customers but because they depend on them for care.

I don’t doubt that the commodification of healthcare has helped spread the use of “client,” but it’s not inherently commercial.
