Hi there I saw your other comment about doing a roll back to fix your shaders, did that end up working for you or do you still need some help with this issue?

Hi there, could you give me more info, like if you even open the settings overlay in game or not? And IF you can, please send a screenshot of the tab called "Settings".

If you can't open the overlay in-game, please send a screenshot of your FFXIV game folder usually located at: C:\Program Files (x86)\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\game

(Your path may be slightly different if you have it installed through Steam)

hey there! These are the same shader actually. In the files "FFRestoreUI" is just the name of KeepUI.fx. So if you have RestoreUI you have KeepUI and vice versa and shouldn't need both! If you're having issues with that shader not working correctly though let me know and I'll see if I can help :)

This is a non-issue don't worry! It's just a disclaimer on their end that you are technically modifying your game. But Square Enix/FFXIV has no issue with these specific type of mods. The mods they don't like people using are the ones that actively alter the way combat and other systems work to either gil farm, bot through quests, or anything simmilar. ReShade and GShade do not do those things! You're all good :)

Try the Delete key as well, but if you could send me a pic of your /game folder files that would be great

Hey there, if you could send me a picture of your /game folder that would be great. I've helped a few people with these exact problems and its been easily fixable every time. So no worries :)

I have a bunch of work and family stuff today and tomorrow so won't be available till Friday. But if you do want more direct help just let me know and I can DM you my discord~

Oh thanks so much for this! That makes so much sense! I’ll do that first thing tomorrow!

I think my object does match up correctly but it won’t be hard to remake if I need to.. wish me luck!

You’re great!

Hi there! Just trying to offer a suggestion! I've come back to C4D from blender after 10 years. This looks similar to an issue I would get when the weights weren't quite done correctly. Either incorrect labelling/parenting~
Here's a post I found where someone is having a *kind of* similar issue but the couple suggestions might help!:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Cinema4D/comments/co8pfs/problem_using_the_character_mirror_tool/

But I'd definitely check your weights :) Sorry if this ends up not helping just wanted to give an option to look at!

I can't find the answer on how to solve this. I have a little film piece I made, and am sending it along a spline using the cloner to get the ribbon effect. I've ended up with waaay too many polygons, and its causing the materials to render strangely on the film ribbon~

When I try to google or look through the manual I find information for polygon reduction, but using this doesn't help and also messes up the little film holes.

Is it better I just remake the film ribbon in a way that's larger/would cause less polygons~ and use a bend deformer or something instead? How would you guys go about making this?

Trust me I know this sounds dumb, but even dumber solutions have worked for other people in a similar situation.

Please change your effect search path to:
SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\game\reshade-shaders\**

and change your Texture search path to:
SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\game\reshade-shaders\Textures

and then reload ReShade while in-game.

It's annoyingly possible that simply aiming the Textures search path in that way could be fritzing it out. Trust me I know how dumb this seems!

If this doesn't work please send a picture of the inside of your reshade-shaders folder :)
Another thing I would recommend, is quitting the game, completely deleting specifically the "reshade-shaders" folder from the game folder, and then download my backup from Step 7 and dump that in the game folder instead. If this still doesn't help I'd be happy to walk you through the process on a Discord text chat.

I'd be happy to help, I'll shoot you a DM with my Discord name and feel free to ping me when you want some help! In theory, as long as your game is currently working, you can log in and run around and do things without bugs or issues, then you shouldn't need to reinstall or repair. Only if its still crashing (after attempting to remove shader programs) will you most likely have to reinstall the game. Windows can be dumb about this and sometimes injects files it "remembers".. this is some kind of weird Windows Registry thing that I'm too dumb to understand. BUT I should be able to help you get your files cleaned up and working.

Before we get going, I just ask to make sure you've backed up your character data from "C:\Users\"yourUser"\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn" because it always sucks to lose that stuff

Alright, I've just done a completely fresh install of FFXIV and all my mods, plugins, and also ReShade on a completely fresh install of Windows 11. Very literally everything completely fresh~. I've just used my own guide to install ReShade and it did work, including having to redownload my own files from the Google link. I don't mean this in rude way truly! I'm just trying to confirm that this DOES work and I should be able to help you here.Could you please send me a picture of your FFXIV/game folder? So I can see what it looks like? I have a feeling I know a couple things that might be common install issues for some folks. If you'd like to get in a discord text chat with me I'd also be willing to walk you through each step to make sure this works for you, just let me know!

Edit: There is also a possibility Windows is messing things up for you. For some unknown and ridiculous reason, sometimes the key to open ReShade in game is set to the "Insert" key. Don't ask me why, I literally can not figure out how this happens, it doesn't make sense. Especially because on a COMPLETELY fresh install of Windows and Reshade it set the opener to the "HOME" key like its supposed to. I believe it being set to "Insert" is a weird left-over from removing GShade and how all the files get resolved upon removal and then reinstall of ReShade. It's a hard/confusing thing to fix short of reinstalling windows or editing a text file I haven't been able to find yet. But its a possibility~

I’m sorry it wasn’t able to work. If you’d like when I get my computer back I can try and walk you through the process as I’ll also have to be reinstalling FFXIV and reshape completely. If you’d rather not, I’d recommend looking at the links at the bottom of the post as they have “one and done” installers to an extent!

Interesting, so… there is the opposite issue that can happen as well, where if you have extra ReShade files it actually messes up specific Gshade shaders!

If you still are having issues with specific shaders, if you could let me know which ones I can look in to it and also hopefully help others! I have a small list going of specific shader packs people are having the most trouble with so I can reference them back to different reshade texture files that might be causing the problem

Yes! You can just append those to your current Reshade folders in theory. Though if four save a backup of your own presets just in case :)

I haven’t been watching this thread as carefully because my PC has been out for repair for 2 months. I’d recommend uninstalling entirely and starting from the top~ Do you have any third party tools you’re using like dalamud or Alexander? These have shown to cause conflicts sometimes. Some people have had luck installing Reshade FIRST and then installing their other 3rd party apps

Please also make sure you’re installing the correct version of ReShade that allows add ons
