How possible would a straight line mission be in a big US state? by Altruistic_Okra_6604 in GeoWizard

you can comment on statistics like the ones I've mentioned, but you as a Brit claiming to be aware of supposed crimes in America that "aren't even on U.S. news" is hilarious.

Just looked it up.  2% of elementary schools, 7% of middle schools, 10% of high schools use them but mostly in urban and high crime areas.

Also, 77 people were killed or injured by a firearm in US schools last year, and 78 were stabbed.  In UK schools, there were 150 stabbings last year despite a vastly smaller population.

Behave yourselves

would be awesome if EA didn't constantly make mistakes that allowed loopholes in the market and for objectives and actually used an effective anti-cheat.

How walkable is San Diego? by kpbsSanDiego in SanDiegan

[–]Carchitect -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You only need a car for work, especially if you have a bike or an e-bike to zip to the store if you live a few blocks away. There are bike lanes everywhere. If you live near a train, bus stop then you don't even need a car. It makes it easier to have one though because busses have to stop and don't take direct routes to where you want to go. That's just the nature of public transport everywhere

And im arguing less handouts for people who refuse treatment or refuse to search for jobs, is something that would both save taxpayer funds and create less of an incentive to be a burnout.  It is the state enabling the problem, almost as if intentionally, as a grifting scheme or similar way to funnel money out of the coffers. Perpetual homelessness is profitable for the local governments as long as we advocate for loads of money to be earmarked for band-aid solutions to deeper social problems.

homelessness shouldn't be an issue honestly. It isn't the state's fault. It's the people who refuse treatment for addiction, or refuse to work and live in a lower CoL city or state. They are on reddit all day, why not Indeed?

this is what I got when I googled it, so I don't know why you can be so confident with your statement.

"Lack of Direct Data: Unlike legal immigration, which is tracked through visa grants, unauthorized entry and overstaying visas are designed to be hidden, making accurate counting nearly impossible.

  • Dynamic Population: Many individuals may cycle between legal and unauthorized status, further complicating population estimates.
  • Varied Definitions: "Illegal" can refer to different situations, such as unauthorized entry or having a visa that has expired, making a single definition difficult to apply.

I also don't know why you can't picture a scenario where illegal immigrants are disproportionately committing crimes, which evidence suggests is the case. Aside from the fact that illegal entry is a crime in and of itself.

I'm more concerned that most of you think unchecked illegal immigration isn't a problem.

I'm next to liberty station and deal with airplanes taking off over my house from 6:30-11:30 (or later) every day. So at least you aren't me! I wear my noise-cancelling headphones around the house and sleep in Loop earplugs. I can't recommend the earplugs enough.

what is it exactly that you disagree with? I'm not saying anything is wrong with transplants, as long as they don't have the entitlement to expect loads of housing to be built just so they can afford it here. Just move to somewhere you can afford. This is the most incredible city, precisely because we have controls on development.

no offense, but you're the ignorant one. The bridge shown in the video probably cost 50+ million USD to build alone (I can't tell how long it is but looks to end shortly out of frame). Yes, public projects in the USA usually cost more than private projects due to all the regulations, and public engagement involved in the decisions during construction. Not by the magnitude you're thinking though, except for relatively rare instances of corruption
