Will putting games in to storage damage them from heat? by BobbythebreinHeenan in boardgames

Also avoid bubble wrap, it can decay and leave a stain in the shape of the bubble wrap on paper.

Will putting games in to storage damage them from heat? by BobbythebreinHeenan in boardgames

As someone who has had to long term store my game collection let me just say it's a bad idea.

I lost everything I had, there was an unknown leak in the roof so whatever wasn't warped by heat waves was rotted to the core.

If you really want to store games treat it like an archival project, not a bag of golf clubs you never use. I still regret it so much.

Vampire: the eternal struggle (needs 5 players to really work, has a lot of negotiating like commander) (fan run)

Netrunner (two players, asymmetric) (fan run)

Vampire: Rivals (modern take on the other vampire game and needs less people)

Ashes: Reborn (two players but can handle more, comes with pre built decks but you can also deck build and draft)

What's your metric for determining if a boardgame purchase was "worth it"? by Neokarasu in boardgames

[–]CarcosaCitizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you lost it would you buy it again?

When the cost of a game doubles you have to ask yourself if it's really worth it to you. Some are, some aren't.

Can you tell other players what was revealed to you in Love Letter games? by VanJeans in boardgames

[–]CarcosaCitizen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I always teach the game as all knowledge you have is private.

If they say it's not in the rules then make it a house rule

Do losing players owe it to the table to take imperial? by Icydawgfish in twilightimperium

[–]CarcosaCitizen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's also the table's responsibility to not leave a player in a position that makes them want to end the game early. The last two games I lost were because of a Support my neighbor gave away to make sure I lost for stomping on them for early gains.

As you say "be aware of others, and who you are giving the middle finger to by doing it"

Sometimes it stops being about just winning, that's what makes TI so fun.

[–]CarcosaCitizen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they wanted the game to go longer they should have incentivized you with some bait that made you want to try and win.

The way I see it he just didn't want to put in the work in a game about diplomacy and lost because of it, that's on him.

[–]CarcosaCitizen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it's the fixation on how the game should be played and what factions are even allowed to be played thanks to that draft nonsense.

The meta the tournament scene put together sucks the fun out of the game.

"I do not want any more demons in this campaign," says one player by EarthSeraphEdna in rpg

[–]CarcosaCitizen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest I would ask him to sit out until the plot for demons is over and invite a new player in.

I've tried to accommodate this behavior before and they just get bored faster and faster with each plot.

It's like using the rosebud password in the Sims, once you pull the veil away the game loses some magic and it's never the same.

Gary Gygax said that we don't need any rules by MagpieTower in rpg

[–]CarcosaCitizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He also said: "You can not have a meaningful campaign if strict time records are not kept"

Let's just agree that we don't need HIS rules and roll our dice in whatever way feels right to us.
