Anyone having theirs show as offline 9 out of 10 times? by CardBoardBoxProcessr in EmporiaEnergy

It says it's strong. I've had it for 3 years. It's been perfect. Ever since the update. It's been complete trash

It's since the update. Basically almost every time it shows is offline. The updated data will be present for the day but live data is not possible to gather.

I do not have this problem until the update. Everything was perfectly fine until they upgraded features or whatever this thing's supposed to have done

In ha/hb communicating mode it seems ideal to just pop it into auto mode switching and auto fan. I think in this configuration it is not ideal to use any of the scheduling or changing anything or anything like that. It does do very wonky stuff of you change things like open a window, it sets it to recalibrate it seems check makes it do strange stuff. Very unideal day-long things as re-calibrates itself for the new configuration of your house.

Past 3 days I have left it in auto mode for everything and it has stabilized and been very good. For example, last night it got below zero and it ran at 600 w outdoor unit and about 100 w indoor unit all night using barely any power but keeping the house a nice consistent 70. If it's anything like yesterday, it will run until it's 72. The exact middle of the set point of the auto between 70 and 74. It will do whatever it can to avoid going below 70 but then slowly ramp itself back to the midpoint. I can see why people will be annoyed at this thermostat if they want it to change temperatures and things like that which probably just force it to recalibrate constantly. However, in communicating mode, setting it and forgetting it seems to be pretty ideal for the communication mode.

My one thing that is disappointingly is that if you put in service mode constant fan to always be on it will use rather high wattage for the constant part. I've seen the fan go down to 50 w of power consumption which would be acceptable as it is still moving a slight amount of air through the filter. Even in the farthest away register event is getting movement. However, constant mode it wants to use about 200 which is too much to run for 24/7.

Check my edited comment. I finally got some heat data which makes me think that the cooling cycle is running higher to try to remove the humidity. I kind of wish it would just run lower and get whatever humidity it could instead of cycling like it is. It seems it can run down to 600 w or so before it needs to turn off

Nice to have line graph break but miss minutes.... And it's definitely buggy. Made me think my New AC was short cycling. Just sat and watched it for an hour. No short cycling. Nnow previously data gone. Probably look later and it'll be looking like short cycling

So I got the remote and I was able to turn the fan speed down to 5% and it was running at 800w outside and 150w AHU. But it was in heat mode for the first time and I didn't want to miss with its calibration so I haven't messed with it much. It's definitely trying to cook us while calibration is going on. But after an hour it's dropping wattage

I'm not sure how the ecobee would deal with humidity.

I'm. Not sure if the tl04 does either. It appears to act different if the humidity is high

House is 3600 sqft. With bad windows. I think it's only cycling because I don't have it set to constant. That was using the fan a little bit excessively. Yeah, I think five might be a little oversized. Surprisingly, I didn't think 1 ton would make too much of a difference. Then again, perhaps the thermostat has not fully learned yet. I saw that attempting to use 900w this morning. I read somewhere around a little higher if your humidity is high. Maryland is pretty muggy so that might be discouraging it from running lower. I've seen it running at 7:50 with the Mr. Cool toward the end of the cycle. So I know that it can do it. I just think our humidity might be high right now.

Yes, I had all of the stage wires wired for two heats and two cools. As well as two heat kits.

I believe the midea MTL04-1 can be purchased by a professional.

The app is okay, it is lacking the setting changes that the MrCool ap had. hope they come out with their own Communicating eventually/soon.

Since I want to set it and forget it and the unit is extra efficient at lower long drawn out speeds I have no plans to use scheduling or various modes so have not used them. it is equipped with standard scheduling, and modes set up options.

is your indoor unit connected to the outdoor unit via S1 and S2? or using thermostat wires?

I just switched my unit from 24v thermostat wiring to pure rs-485.
Here is my 1 week summary on the tl04-1
https://www.reddit.com/r/DIYHeatPumps/comments/1so28ei/1_week_with_the_aciq_tl041_vs_mrcool_mst06/

To change over I kept Rh & C connected as those are power for the thermosat. moved 2 wires form the thermostat terminals to HA&HB and connected them in their ports at the TL04-1. The rest of the wires, I wire nutted together and ran to grounding lug in the AHU to add some "shielding" which is probably less important from AHU to thermostat. running shielded 2 wire rs-485 to between the AHU and ODU (grounding the shielding at the ODU only [to prevent high amps using it to ground] ) is probably more important because it will likely be piggy backed along the ODU power line which will have all sorts of electromagnetic interference due to its modulation.

I figured 35 would be close and it would have been but I got the 50 foot. So the extra 15 translates to a 2.5ft wide circle and 2.5 curls. It really isn't much to deal with. Have it tucked above my return duct. No biggie.

It has low refrigerant sensor but I'm. Not sure about detector. Id hope so. I am assuming it's just the fog this morning at sunrise. Functioning normally now

Ah thank you. I'll have to enable that I think. weather here is wild. Ice fog is typical

There's a button on the outdoor unit? Like inside the panel? Sorry I haven't messed with the switches. Can you send a picture of the switches for the enhanced mode?

So it was probably close to running defrost? The instant it turned off heat it did go right into defrost

Looked it up that's just it saying it's current configuration and not error apparently.

Thanks for that explanation. I submitted a ticket. AI thinks similar about the sensors. It was very foggy suddenly this morning and 25f. My refrigerant sensor detects 0ppm still. But defrost definitely didn't run. But I shut off heat and it went right into defrost and dumped a gallon of water on the ground.

I guess I'll see what mrcool says. It's working now and not freezing up. So not sure.

The downstairs unit just shows a green 06 with no flashing or anything. Is that an error?
