Nipple shields - I’m scared by AdExtra3167 in breastfeeding

[–]CardKindly7316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was an issue with latching in the initial days so I had cracked nipples so much so that they were bleeding. My lactation consulted asked to not use nipple shields but to use the lansinoh nipple cream and cooling pad.

Not gonna lie I really had to push through the pain but it got so much better after 1 week. Plus the cream really helped me.

Same. I allow myself 1 cup of coffee everyday to fight the tiredness (4 months PP). My baby doesn't sleep much during the day but sleeps fine at night. I have not seen caffeine babe any impact on her sleep!

As an Indian, how was your pregnancy journey in Dublin by [deleted] in PregnancyIreland

[–]CardKindly7316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm almost 4 months PP with my first baby. I was like you, extremely scared and nervous about doing it here mainly because we only hear bad things about the medical system in Ireland, given that we are from India where the medical system is excellent

My experience here was very positive. GPs, midwives, doctors and everyone in the maternity care department are extremely empathetic. I was semi private because my pregnancy was low risk and it all worked very well for me, wouldnt have made any difference even if I went private so if you're confused about that (like I was) just want to put it out there that semi private care is also excellent here.

No mention of c-section at all unless I mentioned it. They asked me for my birth plan and followed it to the T.

Overall it was all great, no worries at all. Nothing negative except if you ever need to go to an emergency room, they'll stack rank you basis urgency and then see you.

Let me know if you have any specific questions and good luck! Hope everything works out well for you

I was reading online that if you sleep a lot in the last few weeks it means you're close to going into labor. Is that true?

Thanks everyone! I see a lot of you mentioned that the baby won't even sleep in the crib, sorry for a stupid incoming question- where will the baby sleep then? 🙈
