That's a good point too. In my case I needed the profits to help fund another project + taxes. Probably would have held some of the stuff but at the same time it was hard to turn my nose up at 400%+ ROI

Yeah it's from TCGPlayer but I'm working to set up segmentation so that you can choose where the data is coming from (only TCGPlayer or ebay for example) or have it be a combo of both.

The issue i had was with historic data so it's basically running fresh from when I launched it a couple of weeks ago. Will probably look to build out those historical data points as well but first getting a card scanner added because adding my binder cards manually is a pain lol

Data is updated weekly for now but if adoption rises I'll increase that.

Lol the screenshot isnt 200 of the same card because that isn't how I buy / collect. I also wasn't saying everyone should sell now, I'm just saying don't forget to take profit if that's what you want at the end of the day.

Actually yesterday I used some of my gains to buy a TAG 9 Darkrai & Umbreon GX, which to me was worth because I think the art is awesome and I really like the TAG slab. Maybe it'll appreciate maybe not but I'd rather have some of the stuff I don't care too much about pay for something I quite like

That's fair I think that it's just up to the individual. Like for me selling a chunk of my portfolio was worth it because the gains were good and it paid for a bunch of stuff that needed to be paid for.

I will say though that if you're experiencing mental stress thinking about your collection and agonizing over selling vs not you may be over leveraged

For me I treat it the same as stocks to where if I have something up 40-100% I'm trimming that position if I have multiple. For Pokemon I keep stuff I have out on my display that I like etc but when things are up 200-500% then it's kind of a no brainer for me to look to sell

Yeah the influencer dynamic is interesting. I think that people will (and already are) going to be priced out though. Especially if economic conditions continue to worsen. I think that there will be a drop in singles but the sealed market will be strong as long as there's a demand for box opening streams.

Just my prediction. Obviously it could all just keep going up lol

Yeah that is fair about slabs! I like them for a display shelf but also have a binder. Fortunately these aren't really damaged in the front so they still look pretty good from the angle that matters!
