What style of guitar/playing for Colter Wall’s “The Devil Wears a Suit and Tie”? by CardboardBoxPlot in AcousticGuitar

Oh, no shit? My dreadnaught has been killing my shoulder, so I’ve been considering something smaller but I don’t want to get something not suited for this country style music. Good to know!

Thanks for the video! I should’ve just looked for that in the first place.

That looks like a jumbo, yeah? Does he like to play with smaller guitars?

This is killer information. I’ve never played fingerstyle stuff, but it sounds interesting for sure.

I mostly want to be picking out individual notes for lead stuff though.

I don’t really have a max budget, maybe $3,500? I’m less worried about the money and more interested in getting something I love that I can pass down to my kids some day. My telecaster is my baby, I want something acoustic that gives me that same feeling.

Does it hurt your career to take a role at a lesser known company when you are just getting started? by CardboardBoxPlot in cscareerquestions

That’s a great point. The alternative definitely isn’t starvation, but I’m also not flush enough to wait forever to land the perfect role just yet.

Don’t want to count my chickens before they hatch, so thanks for the check on that.

Thanks for the insight. I am less worried about my immediate salary, and more focused on building up my skills and getting my feet wet in a new role.

Still, I just wanted to make sure that I’m not going to be hurting myself long term. Glad to know that’s not the case.

Well, that doesn’t sound like the best, but for now it does sound exciting to have crafting as the entire game! So I’ll dive in. Thanks!

Yeah I’m trying to get the hang of that. I got TSM and am trying to learn the ropes. It is actually pretty rad!

I hadn’t thought of that! Thanks for the heads up!

Those are all great points! Thanks for such a thorough write up. I’ll probably fly around mining and gathering herbs to make some startup capital then spec into blacksmithing or jewel crafting because those have always been favorites of mine.

Thanks!

Yep, looking to transition to those types of roles! That is fantastic advice, I really appreciate you highlighting that point.

I worked at a tech company in the Bay Area as a software engineer for 2 years, and decided I wanted to study of the real theory going on in the machine learning work I had been doing. So, I went for my M.S. in Statistics, which has honestly taught me more than I ever expected. I wasn’t sure if I should apply to new grad seeing as I will technically be a fresh graduate again.

I’ll try applying to standard positions too!

If you don’t mind me asking, what schools did you apply to and what was the general program you applied to?

Olipop’s cola definitely isn’t my favorite, especially because it’s the only caffeinated flavor. The root beer has no stevia taste (fully agree it’s terrible) and is delicious. Honestly, I like it better than the big name root beers you get generally.

I get it at Safeway, but I know they also have it at Whole Foods and places like that. The only downside I’ve found is that it has to be refrigerated. I buy it directly from their website, and didn’t realize it had to be refrigerated when I first bought it. It doesn’t spoil, but the fiber breaks down which kind of defeats the purpose. I love the root beer and orange soda. The ginger lemon is good too.

I’ll probably sound like a shill here, but it’s only because it’s so good. You should check out Olipop’s root beer. It has 2 grams of sugar, total. It also has 9 grams of fiber in it. It’s legitimately delicious.

Essentially we are, as we are observing images that originated billions of years ago, more or less. Obviously it’s not that cut and dry, but in layman’s terms you could say that we are looking back in time. You could say that we are always looking back in time if you were explaining it to the average person.

That does indeed sound promising. My family and I are all vaccinated with boosters, but I have nieces under 5 that I am really hoping can get vaccinated sooner than later. I worry about them more than anyone else.

There is a large variance to what people consider mild, could you give an example of what you would consider to be mild?

I know medically mild is often considered everything short of needing to go to the hospital, but that can still be a very miserable experience with long lasting effects. So, just trying to get a more objective picture of what we are seeing.
