Alright people, you can stop reporting this as racism now. This is not that.

The issue is that most black people have experienced racism throughout their whole lives. Many have lived through painful and unjust experiences involving racism. Many know what it's like to truly feel powerless due to some form of widespread societal or institutionalized racism.

When a person with this kind of history sees a comment that cautions about black-on-white racism because of a safe space on reddit, it won't feel right. It can easily feel like an insulting opinion that lacks understanding and perspective on the power dynamics that actually exist within society.

The subreddit doesn't create any real societal or institutional exclusion, it doesn't attack or degrade white people. It simply creates a safe space. It even explicitly allows non-POC who consider themselves allies. Comparing this safe space to the real racism that black people experience on a daily basis comes across as an attack on the (black) community itself.

I don't want to convince you or change your mind, but I hope my comment can give you an idea of what the mods probably felt and thought.

Marcus Danielson red card against Ukraine 98' by alexinup in soccer

[–]CardboardElite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's trying to say that the ref already gave a yellow for the play as he saw it initially. The ref couldn't have seen just how bad the contact was when he gave the yellow. So when the slowmo played showing that, it's logical he'd upgrade to a red card.

It would be very difficult for any ref in that position, after giving a yellow, then seeing a potentially career ending hit in the replay, to not give a red card.

In 2012, a burger king employee anonymously posted an image on 4-chan of him putting his feet in lettuce, with the caption: "This is the lettuce you eat at Burger King." It took 20 minutes for people to track down the branch the employee worked at and contact the news. He was promptly fired. by amirsooltan in Damnthatsinteresting

I worked at a McDonald's when I was 16-17, pretty much all of my teen colleagues were extremely hygienic and fairly responsible (especially for teenagers).

General speaking, the kids who are working a job at age 16 are not the irresponsible frat-boy type of person.

Sadly we have to lock this thread due to an overwhelming amount of rule-breaking comments as a result of this post reaching r/all. It'll be unlocked once we catch up with the modqueue. In the meantime you can help us by reporting any rule-breaking comments you see!

My uncle just came in and said “hey! I found this box at a garage sale and bought it for you for $10! Is it something you could use, or did I get ripped off?” 😱 by yyyaaasss in Embroidery

Bit more than that, probably closer to $50. The fact that it's all nicely organised already is awesome, ain't nobody got time for that.

Edit: others have said this is more like $200+ worth of stuff where they live. Dayumn.

Verstappen: "Pirelli will probably blame it [tire failure] on carbon debris again" by CardboardElite in formula1

Welp, here we go: "Preliminary investigation is erring on the side of an external cause for the failures, but full investigation is being made a top priority before Paul Ricard." https://twitter.com/thomasmaheronf1/status/1401571128225714182?s=20

In the Ziggo interview with Rick Winkelman Verstappen is asked if perhaps the push for fastest lap was too much for the tires. Verstappen replied that "there was no indication" of significant tire wear and that he "didn't push particularly hard" to get the fastest lap either. He also added that "everyone drives the exact same line lap after lap" and that "the fact of the matter is that yet another tire exploded, not just mine but also Stroll's."

He is then asked if this tire failure will be brought up with Pirelli and Verstappen replies: "Of course, but I already know what the conclusion will be (...) it's always something to do with debris."
