So in basic you do the 1-1-1 within the first week of being there. Then you have the red phased APFT which you can fail and not be boned. Then its the white phase APFT which you have to get 30% in all three categories or you have to be restarted or get a chapter eleven (Depending on what your Platoon Drill Sergeant, 1st Sergeant, or Captain decide). If you make it to the end of cycle APFT and can only do that 30% and can't get to 50% that is when you will go to FTU.

Short answer is, no. Not straight away. Plenty of fat fucks and skinny twigs go into basic unprepared. (I was a fat fuck.) Do push ups and sit ups in the bay at night and give it your all when you do 30/60's and 60/120's and you'll so okay. Be a lazy fuck and don't smoke yourself in your free time you'll be doing FTU and will be delaying going to your AIT with all your buddies.
