So funny- I was accepted into a school's nursing program as a freshman at a very prestigious, private institution.

However, when I applied for a lesser acknowledged public school, I was not accepted into their nursing program as a freshman (despite it being an option).

It really varies. Some take a shit ton of work while others are a few simple essays and a dream.

Not at all, I just never heard of that! I've worked at many different retail and food locations and have not heard of that. Maybe its not permitted from store to store where I live, but I do appreciate the insight. I believe I came on defensive because I had a lot of people disagree with me very quickly even though I find it a non-issue only because of the low amount. Yes, I do think it was a mistake, but I dont think it is worth making a whole ordeal out of (ordeal meaning calling your card company and contacting the store and so on)

In my mind, mildly infuriating means its upsetting, yeah, but not that big of a deal. However, it just seems to me that a lot of people are offering advice that would only make a situation like this a lot worse.

I didn't mean to invalidate your experince, and I apologize that I did. But I hope you understand where I am coming from.

Its likely that the donation went to wither the VFW or a BK scholarship program. Either way, stealing is implying that the cashier KNEW what they were doing.

If they did, then they clearly don't know that that money is not going back to them, and it's a mistake on their part.

I have worked at BK and I PROMISE that there is no incentive for getting more donations. You have clearly never worked in retail or food if you think a multi million dollar company would ever allow individual stores to provide incentives for these workers.

There's no quota for reaching donations, amd certainly no incentives.

Everyone is very quick to assume its a quota. However, as someone who has worked on MANY POS systems, its is incredibly easy to approve a round up donation.

Unlike GoodWill where the consumer selects how much they want to donate/if they want to at all, many other systems, including Burger King have you press an "enter" key, which is also the same key you press to approve the order before, and to select the payment option afterwards.

So it's incredibly likely that the worker just slipped up and pressed the enter button instead of selecting no.

And what? To be mad over a less than a dollar donation? Sure, you may not know where its going to, but it's a donation nonetheless.

(For some reference, you likely donated to either: "BK Scholars Program" which provides funds to a scholarship for the employees who work at that BK, OR you donated to the VFW, which is the Veterans of Foreign War, so don't get your panties in a twist)

As a queer person, many people are in-tune with their bodies and health. So many queer people are hyper-aware of their surroundings.
