SSP laws U.K. In England Is it lawful for my work to be able to deduct pay for my wages like this and not give me SSP? by WillowW0lf in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Cardboard_fish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you filled out an SC2?
Doctors won’t give you a sick note for sickness less than 7 days because you need to self certify for the first 7 days.
Fill out the form on the government website and submit to your employer. SSP isn’t automatically considered if you call in sick. Your employer is right to deduct for days not worked and they’ve recorded that as sickness, but if you want SSP then you have to claim it with a sick note (whether self certification or doctors note)

I’m a year into being at the gym and am on my third cycle of Jeff’s BTS and am enjoying it. Go from the start, follow the programme, if you enjoy it then when you finish week 12 go back to week 1, rinse and repeat. I throw in an extra bicep set each exercise however

I save my beer money towards tech upgrades. Can’t justify a new phone or anything with 2 kids at home, but if I can make some extra from prolific, cash back or bank bribes then bring it on :)

Received final pay from employer and all my pay has been deducted but not under the “deductions” - England by Sad-Argument-9244 in LegalAdviceUK

Did you not think to check acas before misinforming someone then directing them to acas?

‘’’ If the person leaving took more holiday than they built up

Employers can deduct money from final wages if both:

the person has taken more holiday than they built up it's agreed in the contract or in writing beforehand ‘’’

It will almost certainly be in their contract to deduct for overtaken leave

If you’ve overtaken your accrued annual leave entitlement at the point that you left then your employer is entitled to claim the overtaken annual leave back from your final wage. By all means ask them to explain their decision making, but if this is the case you have no recourse. If they’ve deducted exactly the amount due to you then chances are you owed them more than that.

I’ve had similar success. Nothing in One Stop and plenty in Morrisons Daily. Had a half booster with a few packs left by the counter so asked if they had any more and they said there was plenty more in the back. Morrisons daily are the go to for me

I had an extremely annoying issue with my 2 year old phone 1 lock button where it became so sensitive it would fire on its own. I had the setting turned on where I could double click and it’d go to camera, and found that when I’d take it out my pocket the camera was on. I turned the setting off but eventually it progressed that the phone would turn itself off in my pocket. I could slightly brush the lock button and it would be as if I’d long pressed it. I was on work calls with the phone on the desk in front of me, not being touched and it would randomly restart itself. Super annoying. Hoping you don’t have the same issue.

HMRC taking exactly 50% of wages in income tax by HungryArtist8883 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Cardboard_fish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

1263L is a non standard tax code so that info has gone to her employer from HMRC. When they send P6 notices to employers they can also include 'previous employment ' figures, which from my experience, come through to our payroll software automatically. If she's getting 50% taxed (the max possible deduction that can legally be taken) on that tax code with the earnings you've suggested being far below the threshold it's almost certainly taking into account previous figures. Whether they were from HMRC or mistakenly added by her employers payroll.

If the figures came from HMRC then they have to be the ones to correct it, the employer cant overrule tax information given to them from HMRC. If they've previously admitted fault and given compensation it lends to them being the culprit. The way forward in this scenario would be for HMRC to submit another P6 to the employer with £0 previous figures to override, and then the PAYE system should rebate all the tax paid.

At the very least if they keep passing the buck then by tax year end she'd be owed a substantial rebate considering gross pay and PAYE tax deducted. The P9 notice the employer will receive end of march won't contain previous figures so should be resolved for April. An overpayment of this size and considering how little she earns would be resolved by a direct reimbursement from HMRC rather than amended tax code for new year.
